I think you and I may be the only people who like Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol.
No, Beverly, not just you two! In fact, I watched on Netflix last night! That and the musical Scrooge are two of my favorite versions! My third is An American Christmas Carol that Henry Winkler made.
aurelia, that is awesome!
Merry, Happy or Holy whatever to all!
Nothing says holiday like having to steer your father away from telling your daughter that Santa doesn't exist. Twice.
Oh, family.
Heh. I just received a rant the other day about my friend's inlaws making up so many lies to perpetuate the Santa myth. She's afraid it's making her son stupid.
The Santa thing... it is... WEIRD. Just so, SO many weird dynamics.
You guys, possibly the best thing about moving back up here is spending Christmas night in my own bed! Had a great couple of days with the family -- including a really wonderful service last night -- but I just don't sleep well in their house. I waited as long as I could and finally got up to see what time it was.... at 6:45. Oops. Ah well.
And the big news from the other side of my family? My cousin's husband has been nominated to be the ambassador to the US (from where he's from, which I somehow feel like would be too identifying to mention at this point). Fancy!

It is. This is admittedly less about myths and more about everyday weird family dynamics. I have a small martini now so it's ok.
My daughter basically implied that she knows Santa does exist, but she enjoys the belief all the same. So I happily played along with her.
Merry Christmas everyone!
Peace and blessings.
Matt,
Oh and I agree re: pope. I was surprised to see he is in such I'll health.
Connie, that's in the promo material, so I don't know if it needs to be white fonted. It's certainly a selling point.
Very animated Christmas dinner. *Now* my parents find out how much they sacrificed my emotional wellbeing for school. Apparently they feel bad. Now.
Lots of heated discussion, since the election is before the new year.
My head hurts and I want to go bed, but guests are still here.
My sister no doubt hates me, since she just did the washing up, after nine people. We have a dishwasher, but still.
Any Buffistas in Berkeley, Indianapolis, Milwaukee, or surrounding Chicago areas looking for work? Half Price Book Stores in those areas are looking for FT workers.
I just held an Olympic gold medal!
VERY COOL!

When my kids made the transition, they were happy to go along with "believing". Shoot, they still flip between helping me Santa shop and being excited to see what Santa put in their stockings.
We just had Chinese food and K-Bug has already gone off to bed. She has to be at work at 2am to prep for the after Christmas sales.
