Off to the Xmas brunch at the Old Ladies' Penitentiary soon. I'm spending my day Making Mom Happy, which is probably the best present I can give her.

Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
I'm all flaily because I got a Kindle Fire!!!
My brother made my jaw drop by getting us a Kindle. Daaaaaang.
You're a good daughter, Theo. And you have a good brother, Tep.
There're gale-force gusts out there, so we're hunkering by the (dvd on the flatscreen) fire, listening to a random collection of Christmas and esoteric holiday cds found in a box while looking for something else, and smelling the Christmas ham. H is speaking Ukrainian with his mom on the phone, and the kids will call later sometime today. Neighbors drift by as the mood takes them.
H has football this evening, which has seriously screwed our recent tradtion of viewing extended version LotR trilogy. We may do that tomorrow. Or Wednesday. Till then there's excellent coffee, and Yuletide. ::raises mug:: Merry Happy, all of you.
For those of you wanting a visual on how much Emmett has grown in the last year, here he is towering over his mom.
Wow! Also because I only see her in occasional pictures, I'd forgotten how stunning JZ is. Makes me worry about my memory sometimes. Not the sort of thing a man should forget.

I love how the heights and relative sizes in that photo have no relationship to reality. Looking good, Seth.
I got Kristen a meat tenderizer that is brass knuckles with the flat spiky back so you can punch your chicken flat.
We thought of you, ita.
Fun prezzie, Allyson!
Emmett didn't know he was getting an iPad this year.
But JZ's family stepped up and pooled their resources to get him something nice since he's been such a trooper about the very early morning commutes, plus he's raised his grades and lowered his time in the mile and he's been a great big brother too. He really deserved a treat, and he's pretty ecstatic.
Also JZ got him a t-shirt for the show Archer that says "Grill Me A Cheese" and Emmett assures me that it is the greatest item of clothing he's ever had.
And now he's working on his Pirates of the Caribbean Lego set.
I've been eying that for myself, Allyson. But I keep buying tee shirts instead.
Timelies all. Presents have all been opened, kids are happy with their haul as am I. Now they are at their dad's for their second round of gifts.
CJ got his own laptop (he had my 5 year old laptop for a while and then a laptop borrowed from his dad) and a bunch of nerd shirts (thinkgeek.com, woot.com, teefury.com and lolshirts.com are great sources). K-Bug got her KitchenAide mixer and she is quite excited. With that big gifty, she didn't get a whole lot else from me, so I tried to throw her off by wrapping a thing of sugar and a thing of flour. She figured out the mixer just from opening the sugar.
I have no pictures, alas. I need to be better about that. With them gone for now, I'm just chilling and watching It's a Wonderful Life.
