Wash: Psychic, though? That sounds like something out of science fiction. Zoe: We live in a space ship, dear. Wash: So?

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

I would also just like to say that I was sad when I finished all of that racism blog.

Skipping ahead to thank Burrell for talking about chicken broth and poached chicken the other day (yesterday?), because I now have some poached chicken and some homemade chicken and rice soup. Yum.

Allyson, I think I will be purchasing many of those books. The Peter Sis, for my father, most definitely! Thank you!

Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

Not the first spy this happened to. There was a famous spy for the Nazis in the U.S. who got just about every key U.S. military plan to the Nazis. They never acted on any of it because they did not believe it. (You would think they would have noticed the accuracy after a while.) Paid him in counterfeit money cause they thought that was all that counterfeit information deserved. Bit of luck for the world that this happened. And there are other cases like this. You could do a whole Blackadder series on spies who were not believed because their information was too good.

There was just a blur of feline that came down the stairs, looped around the couch and over me, back up the stairs, through at least 2 bedrooms, down, around the living room, and then into the purple sink in the corner of the living room to roll about it like a marble in a bowl. Well, that last part was *just* Pumpkin. The rest was first Pumpkin chasing Loki and then Loki chasing the 'kin until she got in the sink.

Devi tried to get in on it, which is how it ended.

But holy cow. If Loki doesn't lose weight, I'll be shocked.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Awesome PTO day. Spent most of it sitting at the vet, learning that the Mercer bad knee genes are apparently powerful enough to impact two generations of dogs.

Then I went to Costco and forgot the two things I specifically went there for.

Then I went to the grocery store and bought all the ingredients except one (critical) item for the dinner I was craving.

Then I stopped at Wendy's on the way home and they gave me Coke instead of Diet. (I swear, this is the one that almost broke me.)

And to cap it off, I realized when I got home that my year-end evaluation is due today so I just spent two hours of Friday night doing that.

No wonder I never take any time off.
