Awesome PTO day. Spent most of it sitting at the vet, learning that the Mercer bad knee genes are apparently powerful enough to impact two generations of dogs.
Then I went to Costco and forgot the two things I specifically went there for.
Then I went to the grocery store and bought all the ingredients except one (critical) item for the dinner I was craving.
Then I stopped at Wendy's on the way home and they gave me Coke instead of Diet. (I swear, this is the one that almost broke me.)
And to cap it off, I realized when I got home that my year-end evaluation is due today so I just spent two hours of Friday night doing that.
No wonder I never take any time off.

Oh Brenda, what a day!
I'm sorry about poor Darby's knees. Does he need an operation right away? The day will come when Clio will need to have at least one knee done, I should be saving for it now.
My neighbors seem to have visitors driving a refrigerated truck. Which has been running outside my house for the past hour.
I'm so sorry about Darby's knees and the rest of your day, Brenda.
Aw, Brenda. Poor you! And poor Darby. Ugh.
Ugh, I am so sorry, Brenda.

Probably best to do it now. Not like the problem's going to get better, and at least now I have some time off coming up over the holidays. Luxating patella seems to be the issue.
They're going to sedate her in the morning so the surgeon can get a better feel for what's going on. She freaks out so bad in that kind of environment that as soon as he touches her she flinches and tenses up all over. And given what he's trying to figure out is how loose her patella is in the socket, that's less than helpful.
What
is
helpful is this mug of hot cider with a more than healthy swig of Sailor Jerry's.
So sorry, Brenda. The good thing is that it should lead to a better quality of life for her.
Back when my roommate had a fat, elderly cat, I got a kitten called Toshiro, and from then on the older cat was on what we called The Toshiro Diet, which is where she got chased around the house and half of her food was eaten. She didn't find it very amusing, but the rest of us laughed.

That's what Clio has. It isn't slowing her down yet, but we've been watching her knees since she was about 2.
