Garson Kanin!
Natter 68: Bork Bork Bork
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Damn fink! But again, if I use my full name, it does not stay my name. It gets transformed. The Buffistas I'd trust not to accidentally screw up my first name. (On purpose maybe, but never by accident). But not most people. For that reason I'd rather just stick to "Gar", cause since I'm "Gar" everywhere else, don't want to be Garson here.
Man, Scoble is a privileged douchebag, huh? Reading some threads on g+ with his participation. I'm seriously considering changing my name over there to a pseudonym, except of course I don't want to link my birth name to my online identities. For valid reasons. The whole thing is so fucking ridiculous I can't even stand it.
I do this. And was once left high and dry by Hertz because my credit card used my middle name, and apparently that same name appearing with my first in front of it on my driver's license and insurance card meant I was engaging in identity theft and trying to make off with someone else's rental car.
My mom once got refused a new drivers license because, of the several forms of ID she had to provide, one had Firstname M. Lastname, and the rest all had Firstname Lastname. The guy checking IDs said, "We have to know where that M comes from." They wouldn't let her go through until she went back home and came back with something that had Firstname Middlename Lastname.
I prefered it pre-Bravo (and pre-Yahoo?) though.
No shit. I think everyone does.
Re: 7 of 9. I'm with Zen Kitty.
re: Google+, I wonder if this is a clash of cultures. I imagine most buffistas are Generation X or older and we grew up really comfortable with pseudos, embraced it, have cultivated online identities through them.
Younger than us (especially the Boomers' kids), they have been encouraged to let everything hang out online. Reveal everything about yourself! As much as possible. Using your real name!
Jesse- your boy Matt Damon tells off a tv reporter who things that teacher job insecurity would make better teachers.
Yeah, that was great. Possibly the most offensive thing about that clip was the "Matt Damon's Mother/Teacher" caption. [link]
"Matt Damon's Mother/Teacher"
That is really bad. I am glad you linked to her website, as there are some really interesting articles there.
Although my favorite thing was him saying "You think I work hard because I have job insecurity?????"
I'm pretty sure Chris Affleck was a classroom teacher, at least back in the day, but Nancy Carlsson-Paige is definitely higher-profile in the field. She's awesome.
I don't want to go to work today. There's all this work there waiting for me.
