Welcome, Becky!
I've been stung by wasps a couple times; it hurts like a mofo. Never a bee, though, I don't think. I got stung by sweatbees a lot when I was a kid; that hurts a lot for something that doesn't hurt much!
Now that I say that, I realize I don't know for sure what sweatbees are, and I've never gotten stung by one, nor even heard them mentioned, since I left the farm for college. That's weird. Was there an insect that only existed there?
I think sweatbees only exist in your imagination, Zen. You got bitten by a figment.
Okay, b.org--remind me to wear makeup tomorrow, eh?
I was going to say, "I've heard of sweatbees."
edit: Zen, where did you grow up? I grew up in Southwestern Pennsylvania, very close to the Appalachian Mountains (which are pronounced Appa-LAY-chin, not Appa-LATCH-in)
We had sweat bees when I was growing up, but I don't recall ever being stung by one. No regular bee stings either, honeybees and bumblebees are pretty even-tempered around here and I know to move slowly with them. I've gotten plenty of wasp stings though, and I kill the nasty little fuckers on sight if I'm able to.
Connie, I grew up in Tennessee, about 75 miles east of Nashville. Not too far from the Appa-LAY-chins!
OMG, semi-randomly--salesperson, DO NOT CALL ME YOUR QUEEN. Seriously. You are making no sales that way. You are creeptastic and I'm walking away.
We had sweat bees in Illinois. Tiny bees with sharp stings.
Because of a case on a show I'm watching right now, I googled to see the number of missing children in the US.
2000
children go missing every day.
2000.
And multiple news outlets were making a fuss about Celina Cass. That's so disgusting. I mean, I want everything done to find her, but over the week they were yelling about her, 13,999 other kids also went missing, and the national news outlets didn't give a flying fuck. Interestingly, of the 800,000 that go missing every year:
115 children were the victims of “stereotypical” kidnapping. These crimes involve someone the child does not know, or knows only slightly, who holds the child overnight, transports the child 50 miles or more, kills the child, demands ransom, or intends to keep the child permanently.
115.
And an irritating thing on this show, they gave a blanket pass to women involved in couple kidnappings. Only men are that evil. Women are just broken.
I mean, I want everything done to find her
I'm pretty sure she was found dead, sadly.
