Mister Kitty is sooo passed out. Usual for him after being overnight a few days at the vet. I've got to get a kitchen scale to monitor his weight. He's 8.8 lbs. Which is horrifying when you realize that when I got him, he was 18 lbs. Fat, very much so. But he's so thin now, it is pathetic.
But as Dr. Berry said,"never seen a happier sick cat, once he was out of shock." Luckily ran into him as I was leaving. Dr. Lee had been doing his care this week, and I love her too. But what I love even more is Dr. Berry knew the whole case and told me that like Dr. Lee, he was not comfortable with restarting the insulin, given MK's borderline status this week and general history. He said he'd conference with her and the other drs to think about oral meds if MK continues to be borderline. Yes, he's ancient, yes, we're counting down days and weeks and possibly months, but this is possible to stabilize at this point still. And he approved my rueful plan to buy a kitchen scale to monitor his weight the next couple of weeks.
I kinda have a crush on all the three vets I've dealt with here. Because they listen and are realistic and don't get taken aback by my morbid dry humor.
We both get a vacation of an undetermined length from the needles and the schedule.
Swifty has never had a break! Glad MK is home and hope he evens out and has some peaceful times.
Man yesterday was stressy. And today somewhat. Trying to decompress now with a beer and bad tv.
Not sure if this has been posted before, but I love this painting:

Dana, I hope you made enough cake!
Jen, sumi, and I are coming over!
Uh, I kind of just had another piece, so you guys will have to split the last one.
Dang. Disrespected via cake!
I really wish I had angel food cake.
sara, if you find a scale you like, let me know.
I have decided to go to my uncle-in-law's birthday party this weekend. Long drive but should be super fun.
Goddamn this medical system.
Says there's nothing he can do
I actually get him admitting he can't solve the problem and maybe another specialist can (it's not ideal, but I understand that bodies are complicated and we don't always know how they work) but he's a pain specialist, shouldn't he be still working to fix the pain part??? It's not like you can turn this one in and get another body that might work better. So frustrating, ita. I wish you relief but first I wish you respite from the pain. And relief.
