We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

I slept in until 8: don't remember the last time I slept that late (when I wasn't sick). Took the dog for a run, and now I have a day in which I'm obligated to do nothing. I may do some laundry and some cooking.

I was planning to write, but I don't have the edits back from my beta. I suppose I could read Erinaceous' book, or watch Falling Skies, which I haven't tried yet.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Today was supposed to be my turn to sleep in, but I was up and awake by 7:30 anyway. Stupid internal clock.

It really tells you how hot the past three days have been when today's forecast high of 92 feels pleasant and cool.

This time next week I will be in Canada. Anyone have a time machine I can borrow?

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

I slept til 9am (thank you Benadryl), had breakfast with my sis and her BF, then came home and they helped me with some garden stuff. Having sweated most of my brains out, I took a long cool shower and have now collapsed in the comfy chair, watching Ancient Aliens because I have no brains anymore.

I had no plans for the day, other than picking CJ up from survival training around 4pm, so I was taking my time getting moving this morning. Then he texted me that he was already back at headquarters. In a flurry of showering, feeding the cats, and getting out the door, my relaxing morning went out the window.

CJ spent one night by himself and the second night in a small group. They weren't allowed their "C packs" which have their tents, sleeping bags, and other long term camping items. The boy is now soaking in the bathtub and not allowed to come out for at least an hour. While he was gone, he got a burn hole in his pants from a popping log on the fire and he stabbed himself in the leg. But he survived!

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I have laundry in and groceries gotten. I should be cleaning, but ugh.

I terrified the baby vacuuming the living room, and then cleaned one bathroom while she napped. At some point I need to go out and buy charcoal so I can actually cook the burgers we have planned.

I have also discovered an advantage (other than price) of renting our Canada car in NJ - the rental place is in a mall with a grocery store and a Target, so any last minute stuff I need can be bought and driven home right there.

On a totally other topic, I think I need new kitchen cabinets. (I can't take the advice of every home improvement blog ever and just replace the knobs to change the look - the look is not my problem. My problem is that the bottoms of all the drawers keep falling out.) Maybe there's a way to just replace the drawers...

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

My parents just replaced their cabinet fronts and some of the drawers, so that exists, at least.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

I terrified the baby vacuuming the living room, and then cleaned one bathroom while she napped.

You're sure no one replaced her with a cat, right?

Art Crawl!!!

tommyrot - I sent a link of the story about your son's great catch to my brother who is the fisherman in my family and I am sure will appreciate it as he was also pretty fishing obsessed at that age.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

And now that I'm showered and clean, my sister is back, intending to destroy a wasp's nest she discovered. Holy crap. Wish us luck. She cannot be talked out of these things.
