We can come by between classes. Usually I use that time to copy over my class notes with a system of different colored pens. But it's been pointed out to me that that's, you know...insane.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

mmmm, sushi.

Things that make me smile: Some nights when I get home, one of my neighbors is outside tossing a softball around with his kid, who I swear looks just like Opie, but with bright red hair.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

animal picture of the week:

That looks like good eatin'.

Man! Our department went for Indian today, and I cheerfully ordered the #9--goat tikka, and the waiter went "Huh?" I pointed it out on the menu and he said they didn't have it, or any of the goat dishes. I was very disappointed. The tandoori chicken was good, but not what I wanted.

The mango lassi was delish.

Steph, that's a lovely blouse. If I were open to wearing short sleeves to work (a combo of hiding the track marks and the damned air conditioning) I'd totally impulse buy it.

My Captain America shirt did not come in time for the movie.

In other random news, this fresh bread is delicious, and my obsession with Nutella continues apace.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

just like Opie, but with bright red hair.

Didn't Opie have bright red hair?

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Not this bright.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Ah. Just checking.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I started feeling sick from the heat in the house without air conditioning, so we got into the car and drove around for a while with the air on full blast until it was time to go to dinner. We just got back from dinner, and the house is still sweltering -- much hotter than outside -- but it's bearable. Mostly.

Because books.

I got this blouse with it

Oh, that's pretty! (But tell me not to go looking on that site now. Damn it.)

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

There is some kind of commotion going on outside. I don't understand how anyone can have the energy to commote in this weather.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

I am not used to NOT having money to the degree that I do not have it now.
I spend little money on little things all the time.
I am not disciplined on tracking spending.

I am msbelle.

I still have savings which do not want to plow through, but that also is buffering my reality.

Except in this. I just had to clean out my savings to make rent, because of the new bank putting a hold on my checks. And yeah, COBRA is killing my budget, to the point that I can't afford to use the damn health insurance, even though I'm paying for it. Not that I have a card yet, eff you very much former company.

BUT! I had drinks tonight with a former coworker (yay networking, NOLA-style!) and he thinks he might be able to get me a job building decks. So, fingers crossed on that.

So, my plans for the weekend: sleeping on a real mattress (hallelu), sending my resume out to former coworkers, seeing Captain America with StW, helping a friend move tomorrow morning, and trying not to spend money. Which I failed at tonight, but if it gets me a job it's a good investment.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

Am home and now caught up with Natter and Bitches! I will need to shut down the computer after I type this post because Tom and I agreed this week that we spend too much stupid time watching TV and surfing aimlessly on laptops.

Gooood vacation. Very chill. Everything was awesome except for the severe sunburn I got on my chest and upper back and upper arms, thanks to generic sunblock that DIDN'T BLOCK THE SUN. Lord.

Want to go to Hollygrove Market tomorrow for farm food, just hoping I can motivate myself out of the house.

Silly me, thinking it only flooded here during hurricanes.

Um, yeah. Our block is OK, but it would be difficult to get here I think in floodwaters. I remember one night it taking me ages to find a clear path to drive home. The flooding is not typical, but (obvs) it does happen.

Money stuff- ugh. I am in a pretty perpetual denial about it that needs to stop.
