I am not used to NOT having money to the degree that I do not have it now.
I spend little money on little things all the time.
I am not disciplined on tracking spending.
I am msbelle.
I still have savings which do not want to plow through, but that also is buffering my reality.
Except in this. I just had to clean out my savings to make rent, because of the new bank putting a hold on my checks. And yeah, COBRA is killing my budget, to the point that I can't afford to use the damn health insurance, even though I'm paying for it. Not that I have a card yet, eff you very much former company.
BUT! I had drinks tonight with a former coworker (yay networking, NOLA-style!) and he thinks he might be able to get me a job building decks. So, fingers crossed on that.
So, my plans for the weekend: sleeping on a real mattress (hallelu), sending my resume out to former coworkers, seeing Captain America with StW, helping a friend move tomorrow morning, and trying not to spend money. Which I failed at tonight, but if it gets me a job it's a good investment.
Am home and now caught up with Natter and Bitches! I will need to shut down the computer after I type this post because Tom and I agreed this week that we spend too much stupid time watching TV and surfing aimlessly on laptops.
Gooood vacation. Very chill. Everything was awesome except for the severe sunburn I got on my chest and upper back and upper arms, thanks to generic sunblock that DIDN'T BLOCK THE SUN. Lord.
Want to go to Hollygrove Market tomorrow for farm food, just hoping I can motivate myself out of the house.
Silly me, thinking it only flooded here during hurricanes.
Um, yeah. Our block is OK, but it would be difficult to get here I think in floodwaters. I remember one night it taking me ages to find a clear path to drive home. The flooding is not typical, but (obvs) it does happen.
Money stuff- ugh. I am in a pretty perpetual denial about it that needs to stop.
I put the hardware for a project in a safe place. If only I knew where that was.
So far I have 9 small ebay listings up and 6 books on Amazon for decent money. Now to get some bigger items on ebay.
Welcome home, Nora!
Our block is OK,
I seriously doubt your block was okay during this flooding. Because I drove around from St. Charles to Tchoup in my ill-advised panic and it wasn't okay ANYWHERE, except the Breaux Mart lot.
My new roommate is baking cupcakes right now. FTW.
You go, msbelle! I don't know what I would sell, really. I was up in the wee smalls last night brainstorming crafts I could make from melted Mardi Gras beads and sell on Etsy.
eta on a related note, Nora, didn't you say you had some extra Mardi Gras beads?
Norwegian police are saying that the shooter killed at least 80 at the Labour Party youth movement event on the island. Most were between 16 and 22.
I just read that, Ginger. It's almost incomprehensible.
It's hard to believe that one shooter could do so much.
Has it been reported what his motive was? Or what he protesting?
