Sign me up for Fiji. Prior job, assistant and I kept threatening, well, to each other, to pack it in and go sell smoothies in Fiji. I don't remember how the smoothies got into the plan.

Selling smoothies is a plan.
My plan is usually to run away and join the circus, but that might be too much work.
It may be replaced with "go on an around-the-world cruise." Seriously, if I could dump everything right now and do it, I totally would.
Beachcombing.
And we could build a cool shelter like in The Blue Lagoon!
No?
Fiji sounds good to me. My office is so nutso right now.
Among other things, I heard about a rather shocking firing last night and then realized that the only person I chew over work stuff like that with was the person who told me. Stymied!
Fiji would be okay.
I skipped out, and now I am home and I should take the dog out. bah.
Woo hoo for the fun traveling folks.
That hall where the GoT panel was? It only holds about 3300 people.
The documents are part of the shared heritage of all mankind, and are rightfully in the public domain, but they are not available freely. Instead the articles are available at $19 each--for one month's viewing, by one person, on one computer. It's a steal. From you.
The link won't load for me, so it's possible this is taken out of context, but this seems to represent a rather profound misunderstanding of the public domain. PD does not mean anyone is obligated to provide it to the public. It just means copying it isn't stealing.
(Every now and then my department gets asked for Universal Newsreel footage. And we charge full price for it because being PD doesn't mean it costs us any less in manpower to provide to the client.)
Oh, Amy, normally I would totally run away to Fiji with you, but I’ve never been anywhere in continental Europe before and will get to see bits and pieces of Spain AND Italy over the next ten days, so I’ll have to take a rain check. I’m so fortunate to be able to tag along with ND on this trip. It was far from a sure thing when he first got the contract. Whee!
The only downside is a rather hellacious travel day(s) to get there. My school paid for the round trip to Boston from LA because of this seminar, so those travel plans were completely separate. Then we used FF miles to get me to Spain, and the only option was JFK to Madrid, so I had to buy a BOS-JFK one way and a Madrid to Barcelona round trip on little bargain airlines...which means I am going to go through three airports, three security lines, and three baggage claims in the next day and a half. I drive to Boston airport in the morning from my seminar hotel, and I won’t actually get into Barcelona until Saturday afternoon. It’s about 26 hours of travel. I’m hopeful I will sleep on the flight from JFK to Madrid, but since it takes off before 6 at night tomorrow, that might be tricky. I am going to be a very tired Pix by the time I get to Barcelona.
But...who cares! Spain! And Italy!
ETA: Tom Scola! Can I still stay overnight at your place on August 2nd between my Madrid to JFK and JFK and LAX flights? I will email you with details.
