That makes more sense than my "hairless puppy with photoshopped claws" theory.
Chupacabra!
It's giving me Eraserhead flashbacks.
Which I did not need just before bed when I've already missed one night's sleep this week.
A couple of Trader Joe's stores are opening in the KC metro area tomorrow. What specialty items should I look for?
EVERYTHING.
Mostly.
What kind of stuff do you like? Their house-brand Oreos (called "Joe-Joe's) are seriously light years better than Oreos.
Their coffee is very, VERY good for really reasonable prices.
They have really good cheeses (especially the Pub Cheese, which is a spreadable cheese like Kakhuana, but with a texture more like whipped cream cheese, which makes it more spreadable, and easy to just dip a pretzel right into the tub).
The frozen sweet potato fries are yummy.
Oh, god, the frozen creamy polenta (with spinach and carrots) is excellent.
Oh, their various hummuses are awesome.
Indian microwave dinners. Tortillas if you aren't in the SW. Mango chicken sausages. Everything crackers. The rosemary-raisin crisps and tj's marscapone. The fruit&nut trek granola bars. I'm partial to their reuben wrap for a weekend treat. Pre-prepped rice in the freezer and shelf aisles.
OH, horseradish hummus is NOM.
Mango chicken sausages.
Oh lord YES!
They have a frozen veggie mix called Bean So Green that is really, really good. It may be the only way I get green veggies in my diet.
Their nuts and dried fruit are good and pretty cheap compared to other stores.
I'm pretty sure their olive oil and balsamic vinegar are also good and cheap compared to other stores.
Oh, Sweet Jesus. Their chocolate-chip "dunker" cookies -- specifically, the ones coated in chocolate on one side -- are PURE CRACK GET THEM NOW.
