The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

JZ, that is awesome! Congratulations!

Well, the automatic notification line from work just called and woke me up. Power is still out there, so, as of now, I've got the day off. If the situation changes, I'll get an update, and if it doesn't, the emergency line will be updated at 10 and then again at 1, so I'll call in and see what's up.

I'm just so glad I've got power here that I'm going to relax a lot more than I did yesterday, when I was stressing over my place. It's supposed be sunny and 75 today, so if I'm not working by 1:00, I'm heading over to the apartment complex pool and catching some rays.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

The real question is, don't these things come in threes? Which other Bayista is going to have a job dropped in their lap?

Does it have to be a Bayista? Because I've got a sinking ship here I wouldn't mind jumping off of...

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Here's to the jobma for JZ and others. I don't need mine until Novemberish, so feel free to pass it around until then.

Does anyone know if already-cooked sausages need to be tossed if they get to room temperature for a few hours?

Well, the power went out at 8:00 Monday morning, and I kept the door closed all day Monday and only opened it briefly a few times on Tuesday afternoon. The last time I went in there was probably late afternoon, and I noticed any lingering coolness was gone by then. Power came back on at 10:40 that evening, so all told, it was at room temp for no more than 6 hours.

If they've been in the fridge (and not sitting out on the counter), I'd maybe rinse them off and just make sure that they're heated through, but otherwise not worry.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

Pepco is, indeed, the most hated company in America. People hate them more than Comcast. I haven't had problems - the lines in my area are underground - but it's been bad. Power goes out at the least little thing and stays out for a long time. And Pepco just can't or won't communicate, will say that the power's on as people sit in their cold, dark houses. The .. utility board? someone ... is saying that they're going to start fining Pepco for unacceptable "service". Pepco is now saying that if people want improved service, it's going to cost more.

And, just for the irony of it, the power went out last night - in the middle of a major heat wave - because of the heat. One of the houses that was affected was the mayor's ... think that'll have an effect?
