Pepco is, indeed, the most hated company in America. People hate them more than Comcast. I haven't had problems - the lines in my area are underground - but it's been bad. Power goes out at the least little thing and stays out for a long time. And Pepco just can't or won't communicate, will say that the power's on as people sit in their cold, dark houses. The .. utility board? someone ... is saying that they're going to start fining Pepco for unacceptable "service". Pepco is now saying that if people want improved service, it's going to cost more.
And, just for the irony of it, the power went out last night - in the middle of a major heat wave - because of the heat. One of the houses that was affected was the mayor's ... think that'll have an effect?
In the week of continuing suckiness for my office: the a/c isn't working - not since the power went out on Monday. Apparently, their is a broken engine or motor or something which they don't think that they have on hand.
There is a box fan in the hallway.
Yeah, that'll do it.
Person A: I think it is ok
Person B: Of course you are welcome
Invitation received from Person B
Person A, acting on a comment from Persons C and D: It would be better if you don't come.
Whatthefuckever.
awww ... baby screech owls - all eyes and fluff (warning - music starts right away)
SUzi, I am confused, but it sounds sucky. As does the no AC thing, sumi. I would die without it at work, where I cannot be naked.
I am cleaning my livingroom, and I really wish my cat would stop peeing on things. Really and a lot. I have to do at least 7 loads of cat pee stuff.
I'm waiting for tile guys. Again. It's a lot like waiting for Godot.
Sophia, I'm confused too. I shouldn't care, but wtf changed between the time the invitation was sent and now?
Persons A, C and D can go screw themselves (as can Person B, if this is all just B's passive-aggressive way of taking back the invitation without having to actually, you know, take it back -- but, if not, then just A, C and D).
Thanks for all the good wishes! Now I'm all stressed out over the fact that the hiring process starts now but the formal offer letter may not come until the end of next week. Not because there's any question about it happening, just because this is a massive bureaucracy (took 3 tries not to spell it "crazy") and the actual agreement between all the involved parties means less than the mountain of paperwork. Still, I want it NOW. Until it happens, it isn't happening.
I am all in favor of the jobs-dropping-in-Buffista-laps expanding well beyond the Bayistas and well beyond the Rule of Three. So, hop to it, universe. Please?
