People! Get rental/homeowner's insurance!

Some good friends got robbed yesterday. Took basically all of their electronics: 3 laptops, including a work one, stereo, probably their gaming gear, etc. I feel so awful for them. They live near a high traffic intersection not far from here and have had issues with things stolen from their cars, and there is a bit of a burglary spree going on right now. T was crying on my shoulder, saying we should have moved! Poor thing. T had to deal with it all by herself because her husband is out of town. And no, they didn't have rental insurance.

Took her all night to coax the cats out of hiding and then she was freaked out all night. She's got some other friends staying over until M gets back, at least.

I haven't trusted science since I saw the film "Flubber."

No sign of the contractor yet.

He's not going to show up, is he?

Has there ever been anyone you find all over the internet? I swear to god, there's someone I keep bumping into in the most RANDOM places. I just saw her comment on this ridiculously racist Colonial themed wedding in S Africa, and there's no reason I should see her there, because I know her from IO9.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Wow. I was "glad" to see all the servers were black.... to keep on-theme.

Can you imagine if one of them had been Asian? It would have ruined the special day!

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

the comments on that wedding are priceless. one of my favorites:

Congratulations! Two white supremacists found love and celebrated it with a slavery-themed wedding! Best of luck in all your future endeavors!

I just....wow. I guess they don't have any black friends or relatives, eh? Because I sure as hell can't picture inviting them to an event with an "African Colonial" theme, and hoping they'd pose with fake guns and whacky hats.
