for those having a rage blackout (and I have been having arguments with banks since I was 16), have you heard about the story in the Seattle area?
A construction worker and new homeowner went to Chase to cash a check (although it may have been a money order) and it was for something like $8200. The account specialist refused to cash the check for him, thinking it was forged. She reported him to the cops and he was arrested and put in jail.
Chase corporate, the following day, realized they made an error, and called the jail and left a voicemail for the police to say "oopsie, made a mistake, he's not a felon." But the person whose voicemail it was was out for the day. So the man stayed in jail for five days.
Because he was in jail for so long, he lost his job and his car was towed from the Chase lot. His check was impounded as "evidence" and so he had no money to get his car from the impound lot.
His car was sold at auction.
This all happened a year ago and Chase will not apologize or make any kind of restitution. So a lawyer has taken his case and the terrible saga was on the evening news.
