Just back from watching the harbor's fireworks (and several other's as well) from the hill in the field with my neighbors. We carried chairs and our drinks. Mister Kitty's biggest fan, G, sat on my lap for most of it. Not bad, not bad at all.

Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
I can hear fireworks everywhere, but I can't see them. I dislke fireworks, because they make me feel lke I am n a war zone. I thnk my cat might be deaf, though, as she seems not to react.
Local firebangers sound like something hitting the skylight in the bathroom.
Cats are unaffected.
Oh, and I have to share: there was a group somewhere down the hill who serenaded the field with America the Beautiful, My Country Tis of Thee and Katy Perry's Firework during the fireworks. And they were good! It echoed so nicely across the field. We applauded them.
Goddamn I love this place.
My family took the annual pilgrimage to the town my mother grew up in, to the best clam shack.
Woodman's in Essex, or Clam Box in Ipswich? GOD, I could go for some fried clams. And some Clam Box clam chowder.
Yeah, the Biscuit is deeply unhappy about the fireworks. The big town ones were far enough for him to be more or less indifferent, but the little local ones that whine first? Growl city. He's convinced they're giant evil cats that he could eradicate if he could just find.
Oz is hiding under my bed and will not be coaxed out even though the noise is over. Sylvester is wide eyed freaked out , but was up in the front window to see what it was. Oz my big ole scaredy mean cat and Sylvester who is the stereotypical curious cat.
TNG is flat on her side next to me, completely unperturbed by the fireworks outside. (It sounds a bit like Beirut in the mid-80s out there.) The late lamented beast would have been beside himself with anxiety. And yet TNG is the dog who is absolutely terrified of the local Yorkshire terrier. Dogs, man! They make no sense!
We just got home from a friend's house and both cats seem to be unfreaked. Noodle is still hiding under things, but not as far back as she had been. She headbutted me to pet her. I'll take that as a win.
CJ should be home soon-ish from guarding fireworks. I hope he used his sunscreen cause it was BRIGHT all day.
Our cats don't care about the fireworks, but they are both concerned about our big standard poodle, who is PETRIFIED. They have followed him around and licked his head and rubbed on him in an effort to make him feel better. Very sweet.
