My family took the annual pilgrimage to the town my mother grew up in, to the best clam shack.
Woodman's in Essex, or Clam Box in Ipswich? GOD, I could go for some fried clams. And some Clam Box clam chowder.

Yeah, the Biscuit is deeply unhappy about the fireworks. The big town ones were far enough for him to be more or less indifferent, but the little local ones that whine first? Growl city. He's convinced they're giant evil cats that he could eradicate if he could just find.
Oz is hiding under my bed and will not be coaxed out even though the noise is over. Sylvester is wide eyed freaked out , but was up in the front window to see what it was. Oz my big ole scaredy mean cat and Sylvester who is the stereotypical curious cat.
TNG is flat on her side next to me, completely unperturbed by the fireworks outside. (It sounds a bit like Beirut in the mid-80s out there.) The late lamented beast would have been beside himself with anxiety. And yet TNG is the dog who is absolutely terrified of the local Yorkshire terrier. Dogs, man! They make no sense!
We just got home from a friend's house and both cats seem to be unfreaked. Noodle is still hiding under things, but not as far back as she had been. She headbutted me to pet her. I'll take that as a win.
CJ should be home soon-ish from guarding fireworks. I hope he used his sunscreen cause it was BRIGHT all day.
Our cats don't care about the fireworks, but they are both concerned about our big standard poodle, who is PETRIFIED. They have followed him around and licked his head and rubbed on him in an effort to make him feel better. Very sweet.
Fireworks here start at 9:00, at least that's what I'm told. Noah and Grace just woke from a super long afternoon nap in anticipation of tonight's revels. However, we are now late and I thought I could swing by ND and Pix's place, but find we can't as we are now late.
No worries! I understand that the small humans make plans tentative at best. We missed you of course, but I'm sure we'll see you soon.
We had a great day. Many friends and way too much food (seriously, people, come eat food at my house) made for a very relaxing, happy night. We are so lucky to have such a close urban family.
That said, I am very sad to have to take megan walker to the airport tomorrow. She isn't allowed to go home yet, dammit.
My town cancelled fireworks due to budget issues. I didn't feel like driving to another town to see them, especially since I planned to be in bed by 9:30. There were plenty of local explosion enthusiasts to take up the slack, though. Leifur was very curious about all the commotion. I'm glad I'm deaf in one ear, so I could block out most of the noise when I went to bed.

Pfft! Evelyn's in Tiverton, RI.
The fireworks last night were beautiful. I'm not so into the crowd (and I miss our previous show place which was at South Pasadena High because it's just plain bigger). It was so crowded. I mean ridiculously. But we had a great spot (on the rubberized ground of a play structure and few people were walking past us.
Some of the fireworks exploded super low and I was worried that they were all going to go off at the same time. Thankfully, that did not happen.
Grace, who has never seen them before, LOVED them. Giggled the whole time.
