I have taken advantage of my independence by sitting on the futon and reading a novel-length piece of LOTR fic. Huh.
Now I shall go do the dishes and head off for a barbecue. So exciting.

My family took the annual pilgrimage to the town my mother grew up in, to the best clam shack. There was some excitement when I realized there was a deep fried bee in my basket! They took it off the bill AND gave me some new clams, but I honestly almost didn't send it back. I'm sure that's got to be a delicacy somewhere, right?
Man, I just looked more carefully at the knitting pattern I've been working since yesterday afternoon and noticed an important symbol for an increase that I just glossed over until I got to a row where the count mattered.
I am now craving a deep fried bee.
Sumi, I have so been there.
Does anyone have suggestions for cooking boneless chicken breasts in the crock pot. The intention would be to have them on salad or chicken salad, so they do not have to be great. I know that the crockpot is not the best method for them, but it is too hot for the oven. Should I just throw in some chick broth and cook them?
sumi, the next time I pick mine up, I have to rip out some rows, as I changed colors too late on my last stripe.

Hee!
I would just poach them in simmering water on the stove, Sophia, but I don't know from crock pots.
I have to frog 30 rows.
Oh dear. No way to fake it?
spread a marinade of whatever flavor you want to end up with. Include oil and spice really generously. Strong flavors. probably include some sweet so you don't end up bitter. spread generously over breasts. Cook in crockpot on setting that will finish when you want to. They will come out really good, really tender and will work well in the chicken salad.
Examples: honey, mustard, olive oil, soy sauce, garlic, lemon juice. Or whatever is compatible with your chicken salad recipe. tomato paste, brown sugar, peanut oil, salt, pepper, garlic for pseudo bargeque. Or use actual barbeque sauce. Whatever your sauce, you don't want to end up boiling or poaching chicken in it. Just coat breasts with it generously.
