Noodle! Come out! We have tuna!
Vincent the Stray Cat is sitting at my patio screen door warbling. He wants to be petted, or another can of the gushy food, or maybe to come inside. He sure wants something.
AAOOOEEEEWWWW*whimper*
Happy 4th everybody! I am briefly checking in and just wanted to say hi!
HI BURRELL! Happy 4th to you too.
Noodle is still in hiding.
I know that both our cats had their safe spots that they'd always return to with slowly decreasing frequency. I think they just get so overwhelmed at the start. I used to just leave them under the bed (Marley) or behind the couch (Taz) and try to talk to them and pet them in their own space.
When they did come out, they liked having their own space to retreat back to.

When our cat Rosie got spayed, and we'd had her already for a while, she hid behind the cabinets for three days. I know it's hard to be patient, but I'm sure Noodle will make her way out soon.
OH and I wanna buy this for Jilli: [link]

I'm sure there's a much more deserving charity than my wardrobe. Really it's the thought that counts.
Oh, that is a wonderful shirt!
Rub the inside of a small, kitten-sized box with 'nip and gently place her in it.
It's likely she'll sniff and skedaddle...but she'll be back.
I ignored Gimlet as much as possible for the first several days, other than making sure I took her out a few times a day, rubbed my hands gently all over her face, gently held her despite her struggles and petted her for a few moments and let her go. I, er, also purred at her and did other embarrassing things that mimicked mama cat behavior.
Pulling the scruff of the neck skin gently, and holding it for a few seconds, which mimicks what a mama cat does when she carries a kitten, is supposed to release relaxing endorphins into cat brains. Gently, as a part of petting, and briefly.
Gimlet was a terribly scared and skittish kitten -- still is. Most nervous cat I've ever seen, and that's pretty impressive. But she'll sit on my head and groom me, if I let her.
Cosmo? Giant slut. Not a shy, hidey bone in her fuzzy little body. She's Nermal, embodied.
