My facebook address is not the same as my profile address. I use an old academic account for facebook, because when I joined, it said you had to have a .edu email address or something like that. And I don't think that Gus ever knew my real last name, but it's entirely possible that he did, since it's not like I keep it totally secret.

all the social networks also suggest second-degree connections - someone you're friends with is in Gus's address book, or the like, even if you're not. I had the same freakout when he showed up as a suggestion on linked in (or maybe even more so, because (a) it was the first time I saw him pop up and (b) it pretends that it's all about srs bizns and whatnot)
