We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

Consuela! Some day you need to come to Juliana's restaurant. They make Pisco sours.

Oh, that's good to know. I would like to get there someday.

I am hiding in my house from the party at my sister's place. I'll go back in a few minutes because my niece wants to watch HP2 with me. But at the moment I'm feeling kind of anti-social: I just walked out without saying goodbye to anyone but my folks.

Bah.

brillig

Unfortunately, there's a goodly-sized subsection of the masculine population that doesn't see a need to bond with their children, because childcare and child interaction is "women's work." "Men's work" is important stuff like bread winning and family leading and interacting with larger society and dealing with "issues of the day" while the women are tending hearth and home so the poor exhausted man has a peaceful place to come back to and renew his energies. The kids are there to carry his line to the next generation and live their lives in the way he has instructed them. At least the sons are, the girls are then to dicker off to the fathers of other sons--Dad will choose who Daughter sees and approve any potential mates.

I may have been reading too many Quiverfull and patriarchal websites.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

I may have been reading too many Quiverfull and patriarchal websites.

Makes me so mad I can't think.

java, "house pubes" made me cackle! Mine has so many damn bushy bushes. I can't even get to the faucet without battling a huge azalea and all the crap that accumulates under and in overgrown bushes. It's been such a wet spring everything is out of control. I'm a lazy gardener. I do like the privacy they give me, though. They hide my windows.

You guys, I'm about to turn off the tv and put away the laptop and READ A BOOK.

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

As a fed, I say go with the dress. I was just going to break the paragraph to talk about moving, but it appears my cat has yet again managed to do something to my computer by stepping on it that (a) I did not know you could do and (b) I do not know how to change. Now my enter key affects the volume?!

OK, I fixed it. Anyway, moving is terrible. Don't do it.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Matilda dressed and ready for Pride.

She and JZ actually rode in the parade on a faux Cable Car.

Showing off her chops.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Mmm, I do like a good Pisco sour.

Matilda looks smashing.

I was very homey today and made bread and roast chicken for a proper Sunday supper. More work than I'm usually up for, but sooo tasty.

Sigh. I was feeling all annoyed and grumpy because, as a friend put it, "Pride is like Queer Valentine's Day, and all you see is cute people walking around hand in hand reminding you you're still single". Yeah. So I looked on OKCupid and there is nothing new there...and I thought "maybe I should try match, even though I think it's less popular!" so I went and it made me sign up and everything...and indeed, fewer than OKCupid and many the same as there...and the two people I clicked on thinking "Hmm, could be cute from the teeny picture..." were my one friend's two exes. Yeahhhhh.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

We cut the arbor vitae down in front of the front porch, but we can't pull the stumps till we have the cable and gas guys okay the lines. There are still large bushes in the front of the house that I'm not fond of, but our foundation is really high, and I've not been able to come up with a planting scheme that's in scale. Also, the little birdies have established residence, so we can't turf them out before they finish raising their families and migrate for the winter.
