Whew. I think work is done. That was a three hour conference call. But we're good.
Shower, and out the door to Colin's.

Happy Pride day, everyone! Gay marriage is legal in New York!
On another topic, at what age do kids stop being total pains in the ass? There's a gap between preschool and teen where they're sweet and cooperative, and don't answer every question with "BUT WHY?!?!?!?!!?!!!" right? RIGHT?????
[eta: And now I feel like a total shitbag, because DH just texted me to say we got the time of a birthday party wrong and missed the entire thing. I'd written the end time down as the start time. Fuck.]
I'm waiting for BART, and it is horrendously crowded. normally the crowds would not make me happy, but they are Pride day crowds, so it's pretty awesome.
There is an age like that with most kids, Jess. Between five and eight they're usually pretty happy. Mine were, anyway.
Caveat: Sara still wants to know every. last. thing. going. on., but not in argumentative way. More of: "Who are you talking to on the phone? How come? What'd you talk about?"
E has been pretty lovely for the last 2 days. Now granted, he has had a playmate almost that whole time, but still.
VBS starts tonight and I have been up at church decorating for the last 2 days. am tired. I will post pics later.
We are back from our trip out to the OC. We stayed in San Clemente, which is now Our New Favorite Place. Adorable beachy vibe, not too big, not too touristy. Walked by the ocean, ate breakfast outside at a local dive and are now home.
The family party was fun--it was goodbye party of the Niece and her husband. Her parents worked for days and cooked up a huge Chinese feast which was deelish. The Douchebag husband of niece only stayed a little while and, while he was there, he sat at a table in the far corner of the yard with their friends and did not speak to any of he guests. The baby needed changing at one point and he announced that was a "mother's job" which did not sit well with me.
Niece comes from a smart family--her mom is the VP of a big IT company and her dad is an attorney and it seems like her life goal is, literally, to become white trash. Married at 19 to a high school dropout, pregnant two months later and broke. I don't get it.

Well, yeah, that's a dick move.
I hope he comes around or Niece figures something out. I don't get it, either, Scrappy.
Ouch, Scrappy. That's not a good situation.
I'm not getting enough done today, and I just found Bell, Book, and Candle on TCM. Uh oh. I can feel my motivation to do anything but watch waning.
Scrappy, that absolutely bites.
Lunch was... awesome. Our table got shushed by a grumpy old lady, which was kind of ridiculous. Lady, you're in a restaurant with 25 foot ceilings. Sound gonna carry. But the food was awesome, and we got free housemade shots because our food was slow to come out, and had a lovely time.
flea's off to the Quarter for museuming and cruise, and I'm going to have a liedown before probably heading out to a dive bar to meet up with a friend, possibly with Nora in tow.
Oh man, Scrappy. At least she'll have family support if she ever decides to get it together?
