Coding and Sleeping

A lot of writing going on today. I'm hoping to get some in as well.

Then I 'm going to my girlfriend's house to work on and finalize some images and art for my webpage!

Cool, custom images!

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

Brunch with Suzi, Niole, Laura, and Brendon. Good food, good scenery, and good company.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

Yeah, I'm superlucky. When she left the family photography biz, she kept on one the computers and all the...stuff for graphic design.

I wrote her resume and cover letter, and she's doing all my image design work and my head shot!

Sundays are good for writing, and it's a pretty day here.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Whew. I think work is done. That was a three hour conference call. But we're good.

Shower, and out the door to Colin's.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Happy Pride day, everyone! Gay marriage is legal in New York!

On another topic, at what age do kids stop being total pains in the ass? There's a gap between preschool and teen where they're sweet and cooperative, and don't answer every question with "BUT WHY?!?!?!?!!?!!!" right? RIGHT?????

[eta: And now I feel like a total shitbag, because DH just texted me to say we got the time of a birthday party wrong and missed the entire thing. I'd written the end time down as the start time. Fuck.]

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

I'm waiting for BART, and it is horrendously crowded. normally the crowds would not make me happy, but they are Pride day crowds, so it's pretty awesome.

Because books.

There is an age like that with most kids, Jess. Between five and eight they're usually pretty happy. Mine were, anyway.

Caveat: Sara still wants to know every. last. thing. going. on., but not in argumentative way. More of: "Who are you talking to on the phone? How come? What'd you talk about?"

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

We are back from our trip out to the OC. We stayed in San Clemente, which is now Our New Favorite Place. Adorable beachy vibe, not too big, not too touristy. Walked by the ocean, ate breakfast outside at a local dive and are now home.

The family party was fun--it was goodbye party of the Niece and her husband. Her parents worked for days and cooked up a huge Chinese feast which was deelish. The Douchebag husband of niece only stayed a little while and, while he was there, he sat at a table in the far corner of the yard with their friends and did not speak to any of he guests. The baby needed changing at one point and he announced that was a "mother's job" which did not sit well with me.

Niece comes from a smart family--her mom is the VP of a big IT company and her dad is an attorney and it seems like her life goal is, literally, to become white trash. Married at 19 to a high school dropout, pregnant two months later and broke. I don't get it.
