TJ's cheese is always reasonably priced. I love their frozen pastas in a bag. Dump that sucker into a bowl, and you have a warm, comforting dinner after seven minutes in a microwave. Of course, they claim that it serves 2, but they are lying. Or think that you're going to bother to make sides to go with it.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Or think that you're going to bother to make sides to go with it.

Is that why there's so little chicken tikka masala? I can stretch many of their meals to two dinners, but not that one.

And, sides totally never occur to me. I'm trying to avoid work, Joe.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Things we buy at TJs:

Produce! It's cheap and good quality. I always grab a bag of baby spinach, which I can use for salads, stir fry or Italian food.

I also get the sliced mushrooms, and bananas and often the heirloom cherry tomatoes. Limes are cheap there.

We also get the onion bagels but you have to store them in the fridge or eat them quick. They don't have preservatives so they don't last.

Get milk and cream cheese there. Get hummus, spinach dip and artichoke dip.

Down the frozen aisle: get frozen lunches for JZ. Usually the Italian things like the spinach lasagna or the cannolli, or the mexican like the black bean enchiladas, and usually a frozeen paneer thing.

Also usually get one of the frozen pizzas, spanikopita, gyoza (pork usually).

I buy the cutup frozen fruit for smoothies, especially the peaches, mangoes and mixed berries.

Drink aisle: lime flavored fizzy water. Emmett likes the sweet ice tea (sugar, not HFC).

I always get some of the water crackers, they're as good as Carr, but they only cost 99 cents.

Dry pasta is good and cheap there. I also get my black beans there pretty often.

I don't buy much meat or bread at TJ's.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I like most of the TJ's breads. They tend to have much shorter ingredient lists than the usual grocery store brands. The frozen pad thai is really good. Also, a bunch of their things are relabeled brand name things -- they've got a few salad dressings that I think are Annie's, and their frozen pizzas used to be Amy's Kitchen, but I think they changed that. Last time I checked, the frozen burritos were still Amy's Kitchen, and at less than half the price.

TJ's also has what I think is the best whole wheat pasta, and I like their jarred marinara. I tend to avoid the produce -- maybe it's different in different places, but at the DC one and the one near my parents in NJ, the produce tends to get moldy or otherwise gross within a few days of buying it.

I don't care for the TJs produce just because of all the extra packaging. Also, after an experience with grain moths, I stay away from their pasta, etc.

Oh,yes, their ginger tea is the best. Many ginger teas tend to be black tea with some ginger flavor, but theirs is more like ginger and water. It's my favorite when I'm sick.
