Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I never met anyone decent off a dating site when I was in New York, and I imagine LA to be even more whatever-that-is. I think OK Cupid has a higher proportion of freaks and geeks (and I mean that in the best possible way!) -- more smart people, more kinky people, more nerds, etc. Along with the standard and cheesy types.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

OMG Y'all! A day!

I forgot that mac had a field trip today and I didn't remember sending in the permission form, so when I verified that I had sent it in I also realized I had volunteered to chaperone. I had to run to the store to get us both lunches, then back to the school to get my assignments and directions. The split the kids into small groups with chaperones and I ended up with another parent with 9 kids. 3 hours at the science museum. good lord.

Now I need to confirm that grandma is getting him from school because I need to do all the errands I had planned for today.

One good thing is that the parent I paired up with was super cool so I think I have a new friend. YAY!

"You can't put a price on the joy of not giving a shit." -Zenkitty

I don't obsess over everything I eat. I just don't buy junk anymore, and plan meals around vegetables rather than meat. I snack on clementines, apples, bananas, and nuts. I've started eating egg whites first thing in the morning, which seems to be helping me not crave carbs at 4pm. For dinner tonight, I plan to have blueberries and roasted brussels sprouts with a bit of prosciutto for flavor, whereas a couple of years ago I'd have a giant burrito or a giant mess of pasta or a giant serving of pad see ew.

I'm supposed to be leading a meeting in 15 minutes. Maybe I should prepare for that.

Yay for new friends. I prefer not to disclose what I just had for lunch. msbelle would validate my choice, anyway, I bet.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I'd say I have no ability to sell myself in text, but apparently I'm better at it than selling myself in person. I just don't like who buys, is all.

Fuck, I just blew the half hour.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

Yay for new friends and kid-friendly contacts!!!

My diet is going to be so different from here on out that all of this talk of veggies and fruit doesn't really apply anymore. My stomach (pouch) is so small that the doctors say to get as much protein in it as possible, so any veggies are after the protein item.

Right now, I'm having diluted cranberry/raspberry juice for breakfast and chicken broth for lunch and dinner, but starting tomorrow, I'm on full liquids including soups and strained cream-of-wheat and yogurt (no fruit chunks, though). Mom went out shopping for herself and is getting my prescriptions filled as well as picking up the yogurt and c-o-w. I've got some TJ's soup in my pantry that'll be fine for a bit.

Dad came up for the afternoon and we finally got my printer installed after having it sit in its box next to the computer desk for over a year. Turns out we had to call customer support and my warranty had run out, so we paid a fee to have them fix the problem. Oy. At least it works now, so Mom can print out her boarding pass on Sunday night.

Oh, and Dad's coming back up on Sunday to make sure everything's all right and to watch the Bears game, and then he's coming back up on Monday to check in with me and then give Mom a ride to the airport--yay, Dad! We were going to have her take a $75 taxi ride, but he just offered out of the blue today (Midway is not that far out of his way home). And he's bringing Panera salads up for him and Mom on Sunday, too. He'll be back up on Thursday to give me a ride to the doctor's for my followup appointment, where I'm hoping I'll get the okay to drive (I probably have it now, but I'll let him tote me around).

I just have to get out and walk around the hallway a bit this afternoon for some exercise.

My incisions were bugging me a bit this morning after my first shower post-surgery, and the filter insertion spot on my groin is sore, more due to this computer chair than anything else, so I think I'll be moving over to my recliner and getting caught up on my tv watching in a few minutes.

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

I've met a lot of people off OK Cupid over the past year...

I met Mark on OKCupid! And a bunch of other people it didn't work out with, but that's dating for you. Didn't Erin also meet D. on OKC? I liked it much better than Match, for the reasons Jesse gave. I think it really varies from location to location, though. But hey, it's free!

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

I missed breakfast, so I had an egg sandwich for lunch. It was very satisfying. I love eggs from our local egg lady. They're so different looking, all of them! One of mine was giant and pointy today. I probably could have just used the one. And there are some speckled ones!

Anyway, I didn't eat because I was spending the morning scrambling around getting the SO ready for his sound gig, but now I can't remember what work I was starting to do when he interrupted. And hey, extra $300, so there's no bad there. Plus, bonus, I now have peppy Christmas music to listen to while I work, even though it's now going to be a late day.

But first I think I'm going to go outside and haul firewood. I kept meaning to do it yesterday and then it was suddenly after dark. I don't know how that happened. It may have been me perusing BSG board game rulebooks ad infinitum. You know, just possibly. But anyway, it's very overcast now, so I need to do it before it snows if it's going to. And then I can haz fire! And peppy Christmas music. And work.

Ooh! There's a flock of mountain bluebirds outside my office window! Dang, I knew I should have gotten the feeder ready.
