We have eaten delicious turkey that Katie made. By far the best turkey I've had. And the usual sides. And cheese. And since it was Katie's birthday, we also had cake and apple crisp.
Everything was delicious and the company, as ever, was wonderful.
So tired though.
Just got home from KCD's. It was way more comfortable than I expected. CJ had a good time hanging out/playing with the other teens.
I was able to introduce KCD's gf and another guest to Fernet. Heh. Loved the looks on their faces.
Horror? disgust? good way to insure you won't be invited back.
I have a food coma too.
I'm sure you were all waiting with bated breath to discover that the stuffing did, indeed, turn out fine. Totally yummy (corn bread stuffing with cran-raisins, leeks, celery, apples, and walnuts). Turkey was excellent, roasted vegetables were a little cold but excellent, the corn meal-pine nut twists over-rose but tasted fabulous, and the pies all turned out great.
And now I have a small tupperware of leftover mashed potatoes, stuffing, turkey, & gravy in the fridge.
Oooh, Fernet! That sounds like a good idea.
I have eaten a LOT of Mom's artichoke dip. It is officially a holiday.
Also? I am finally watching Red, that SciFi movie with Felicia Day and Kavan Smith. At the 4 minute mark, I can already tell the effects suck. But still, it's the perfect closer to a day spent on my feet cooking (or eating).
I am totally sated. K did a great T-Day dinner. And, OMG, the kids are so grown. Great company, as always.
Happy birthday to K!
I didn't have time to brine the turkey this year but I did stuff under the skin with some sage, thyme and butter and basted with some chicken broth. I cooked it breast side down until the last hour and it turned out evenly crisp on the outside and moist and tender on the inside.
Leftovers are being nommed as I type and I've had three pieces of pie.
My pie turned out awesomely. I may have to remember that mix of apples for next year (3 granny smith, 2 honeycrisp, 2 red delicious). Cake was okay. Tasted good, wierd texture. Might be my oven, tho.
