Fred: So you don't worry that it's possible for someone to send out a biological or electronic trigger that effectively overrides your own sense of ideals and values and replaces them with an alternative coercive agenda that reduces you to a mindless meat puppet? Shopkeeper: Wow. People used to think that I was paranoid.

Punishingly Intricate

I don't care about understanding any sports (even the ones I like! ... derby) except when I'm actively watching a game. And I never actively watch football.

I'm really very thankful about getting married next week to a really very awesome person. And thankful for all my incredible and incredibly generous friends and family. And thankful that I have a job with decent bosses that, while it's not a dream job or very interesting even, compensates me quite well. I'm thankful I have a home and plenty of food and that my elderly cats are still amusing and in decent enough health.

When football fans can tell the difference between Lacroix and Lagerfeld, maybe I'll start to care. But, until then, why would I follow the nuances of something I have absolutely no interest in?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I wonder if I knew the positions of the football players I hung out with in college at the time, because I sure don't any more!

It's probably easier for me because I wasn't in university at the time. Not really even close.

In my defense...they'd hang out in just towels a lot. I'm only human.

I got nothing on the basketball player front. I was even older, and that started when he was in high school. But there was no hookup.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Oy - just when you thought Sarah Palin couldn't get any more embarrassing, [link]

CO-HOST: How would you handle a situation like the one that just developed in North Korea? [...]

PALIN: But obviously, we’ve got to stand with our North Korean allies. We’re bound to by treaty –

CO-HOST: South Korean.

PALIN: Eh, Yeah. And we’re also bound by prudence to stand with our South Korean allies, yes.

Failin Palin, indeed.

In Panera last night, one server was showing another server how to do the Too Legit to Quit hand movements. Neither child was alive when Hammer came up with that. How, and why, is it back?
