Oh Brenda -- that's a little too much family drama. And what exactly did the boyfriend do (or is alleged to have done) to end up IN JAIL? I must have missed a memo or two.
Stupid tax, basically. Drug possession charge (weed) a few years ago that was not exactly cleared. [Stupid tax] Then got pulled over for no light on his plate. Acted like a jackass and pissed off the cop. [Stupid tax] After two or three weeks in real jail (scary ass shit, really) probation officer violated him and landed him in a work-release facility for three months.
My sis is a freaking dynamo, FTR. She pushed and pushed and called the PO and got his parents to do so and called some more and kept the pressure on until he got moved from real jail to the WR place the night before his brother's wedding, then got his boss to drive 50 miles there on the morning after a late night poker game to get the work release set up so that he could get out for like two hours, throw on a tux, and be at his brother's wedding. Then right away back to whereever.
Seriously. If you're ever in real trouble, you want her on your side.
Go, brenda's sis!
I have pie in the oven! Thanks to Mr. Flea who introduced me to the very concept of peach and blueberry pie. I made mine with lemon zest. Some tart and tangy to go with that peachy sweet.
Also, I had a little egg left over so I made a cup of aluminum foil and added parmesan and chives.
You know why? Because I have freakin' chives! I'm going to put them in everything now. Maybe on ice cream, I don't know.
Anyway, a little baked egg thingie to give JZ a bit of protein.

I see a chive turkey in your future.
I didn't know "chive turkey" was a font face until I just googled it.
OMG @@ SNORT
I hurt myself doing all that at one time, BT. You ruined my Thanksgiving!!
I have a ham marinating in spiced cider mixture in the fridge. D had used my largest stockpot for the dog waterer outside this summer, and I realized this when I went to look for it in the cabinet of rarely used kitchen stuff.
Of course, it had leaves and dirt in it, and I had to scour it out, cussing, while my cider boiled. In my clean sink.
If this if=s the worst T-Day related mishap, though, I'll take it.
Don't mess with the fucking stockpot, maaaaaan!
Seriously, I'm really looking forward to making stock tomorrow and filling the house with delicious scent. It's like a poultry potpourri.
Now with chive.
Hey, you know what's oddly stressful? Completely losing the Tivo remote.
It has no buttons on the box!
Where did I put it? It's not in the obvious couch adjacent spaces.
Computer area, kitchen or bedroom. I must've walked with it and put it down.
Gah!
I hurt myself doing all that at one time, BT. You ruined my Thanksgiving!!
Gosh. I don't know whether to apologise or twirl my moustache.
I don't get a Thanksgiving! I'm all antipodean and such like. I do get a spring, though. I like spring, this is how it goes in Melbourne:
For me it begins before winter ends. in August, the golden wattle blooms. This is what the blooms look like: [link] And they turn entire trees golden: [link] My train ride to work each day passes entire stands of them. This is my favourite flower. I love the thick, bright colour, and the fact that it signals the end of winter.
Spring ends with two events. First is exam season. I had my exam yesterday, in Financial Econometrics. I'm not entirely happy with it, juggling study with work and Ryan didn't go so well this semester. Still, it's done now. My nights are my own once more!
The other thing November brings is bottlebrush: [link] They're pretty spectacular in bulk: [link] My neighbourhood is thick with these trees.
Melbourne is good for spring, is the point. Not as good as Canberra, but still. In conclusion, Ryan has apparently made his first friend. There's a boy by the name of Charlie at his daycare, and they like to hang out together. And he didn't even need the internet to do it! He's obviously some kind of prodigy or something.
Ha! We have a bottlebrush tree in our backyard. Now it will remind me of you, billytea.
