re: Leo and the plane

It is unclear whether or not DiCaprio, who later said he "wishes to commend the actions of the pilot and flight crew in bringing the plane to a safe landing," was one of those drunk, shrieking people. Either way, he'll probably tell Putin he wasn't, well aware that if Putin had been on board, he would have safely landed the plane without a shirt on while simultaneously delivering a baby, or something.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I think maybe the trail mix looking top is actually fried-potato-based. But I'm not sure.

I would believe that.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Am I a crazy person for planning to go to Target and the grocery store (probably Whole Foods) on Wednesday afternoon?

Yes. It will be a madhouse and if you're there to buy anything Thanksgiving related they will have already sold out.

I hit up TJ's last Thanksgiving Wednesday for pie, and the lines were short and the pie plentiful. So I'd say it depends.

A couple of years ago, on Wednesday NIGHT before Thanksgiving (aka, Procrastinator's Grocery Hell) I went to the grocery due to my inability to read containers and the resulting depletion of the vegan sour cream.

(I was making both vegan pumpkin cheesecake AND vegan mashed potatoes; the cheesecake took, as you might expect, vegan cream cheese, and the potatoes took vegan sour cream. I was making the cheesecake and accidentally put the sour cream in the mix.)

Since that was the only vegan sour cream in the house, and I needed it for the taters the next day, I steeled myself and went to Kroger. To my utter, utter shock, I got in and out in under 10 minutes; 4-5 of those minutes were spent walking from the front of the store to the back where the vegan food is exiled, and then walking back to the checkout.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I will be sure to report my findings on Wednesday....

Re: non-traditional Thanksgiving Day food, here's the recipe for what my family fondly calls "Cherry Junk" (we are not, alas, the most creative food-naming fam out there.)

The ingredients for Cherry Junk are: 1 Can of Wilderness Pie filling(cherry, of course) 1 can of Crushed Pineapple 12 oz. of Cool Whip ( that is about 1 1/2 regular tubs of Cool Whip) 1 Can of Eagle Brand Condensed Milk Nuts, if desired Put all ingredients into LARGE BOWL, Stir until thoroughly blended. This recipe may also be frozen, but my family prefers it just refrigerated.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

I have been asked to take a cherry pie to Joe's family's Thanksgiving.

Things of note: a) I only make pies from scratch. I hold no judgement of other pie making/acquiring methods, however I have A Thing wherein if I were to buy pie crust, my great-grandmother's hand would reach down from the Heavens and give me such a smack that I find making pie crust not only easier than dealing with Zombie Great-Grandmother, but also somewhat relaxing and b) cherries are not in season.

Any suggestions for making something cherry pie-like that would not cause a Zombie Great-Grandmother invasion? Or do I suck it up and call the Grand Traverse Pie Company and call it done? I like to bake, by the by, and have Wednesday off.
