Tara: Do you have any books on robots? Giles: Oh, yes, dozens. There's a lot of research to be done in order to--no, I'm lying. Haven't got squat. I just like watching Xander squirm.

Socks are a running theme throughout the series. They are used as symbols of freedom, redemption and love.

Please tell me you've tweeted that to Nathan Fillion.

We hadn't thought of that! Hmmm.

I just got back from lunch with him (my nephew Simon, not Nathan Fillion) and my sister, who showed up at my office as a surprise! It was especially nice because I'm the only one in the office today.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

It's hardly successfully pushing for radically short hairstyles to be mainstream.

Isn't the point there for butch to be more mainstream, though?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I thought the point was that short hair didn't have to be butch. But that ship has long sailed with me, so I could be reading it slantedly. Also, butch doesn't have to be grim, does it?

Every time IO9 posts about Donald Glover I get into irritating arguments. Except this is new! Improv comedians can't do drama. Bite me.

I think they sabotage the point by having the women look a) grim and b) dressed androgynously. It's hardly successfully pushing for radically short hairstyles to be mainstream.

Mmmmm, I think they all look super hot...and totally dykey. :)

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Who's got a favorite non-traditional side dish recipe they want to share?

I've done a sweet potato/blackbean hash from Eating Well on a number of occasions that is so good. [ETA - found it online: [link]

I also think kale or collard chips may need to start making an appearance.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Oh, I went the other way. (That's what she said.)

Do you want non-traditional Thanksgiving or new Thanksgiving-ish ideas, David?

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Hmm, I'm in the hospital on free wi-fi, and I think they possibly have LJ blocked. Or the site is down.

I suppose I shouldn't complain, since the hospital actually has free wifi in the patients' rooms.

Yeah, I figured. It looked more like blocking than site outage. I am tempted to poke the rest of the internet to see what else might be blocked.
