A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

Burrell, I have my cert for 9-12 English in MO, have taught college English courses, subbed for K-12, been learning advocate for 6-12 grade in an at-risk teen shelter, and taught summer school for 8th graders.

I also have a shitton of experience in advocacy work, including legal, for domestic violence shelters, and started up and ran an undergrad tutoring services program for KU, as well a giving seminars and individual consultations for students there on any issue related to academic performance (time management, test anxiety, study skills, etc. ad nauseaum.)

I've also organized two international conferences for English graduate students and researched for a prominent medieval scholar (a comprehensive medieval medical works database, lots of Latin), and.... Well. You get the idea. But I can't get a job answering phones.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

So help me god, I have a tumblr obsession.

What would I do with my time if there was no web? And it's not even that I want to look at tumblrs. I just want to post stuff.

(Hi Jesse)

Christmas shopping! Damn, I forgot. I'm going home this year, so that means three gifts. Etsy, here I come...unless uncommon goods can hook me up.

call me jacki; zuisa is an internet nick from ancient times =)

What would I do with my time if there was no web?

That is a question I ask myself frequently. I would get a lot more done, that's for sure.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Yeah, I don't know. I guess spend more time bullshitting with coworkers, but that looks so much less like working!

I need a tumblr of my own, I think -- I want to subscribe to things that aren't Good Stuff.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

No Veteran's Day off for me, but I'm taking my birthday (11/12) as a vacation day so I do get a long weekend.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

I post this here mostly for Jesse, who is one of many that shares my absolute LOVE and ADORATION of all music things from the 90's: [link]

I'm not even sure WHY that popped into my head today, but there ya go. You are welcome.

Ann, that's a ferret.

I have tomorrow off and work the day after Thsnksgiving.

I'm kind of weird. I actually like working the day after Thanksgiving. Traffic is near zero. Nobody's around and nobody's going to call. Which means it's the perfect chance to get lots and lots of things done. Or, if I don't, who's going to notice?

And I can save the annual leave for a day when traffic is typically crazy.

And what's with all the carrots?

Erin, I do HR if you would like me to look your resume over. You have me on fb.

Our company provides service to state and county governments..all who will be closed tomorrow. We will be open. I hope they at least bring in cake or something.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Last year I worked from home on Thanksgiving and, aside from the time spent spraining the hell out of my ankle, on the Friday and weekend afterward. We had a huge project at work that was supposed to be completed Dec. 1. It was my first Thanksgiving without either of my parents, so I figured drowning it in a ton of work was a good way to adjust.
