People, when you get a wrong number, why don't you just say, I got a wrong number? What's so hard about that?

I have never understood that. Why just hang up? It's rude! And with caller ID, they know who you are!

I know! I should totally call him back and be all "Uh hello yourself! I know you got a wrong number and that's okay! Have a good day!"

call me jacki; zuisa is an internet nick from ancient times =)

I've never had anyone just hang up on me, that's terrible!! I ended up having quite a lovely conversation with a wrong number once because she just KEPT CALLING - she was convinced she had the right number. It was fun.

The worst wrong number callers are collection agencies. They never believe they got the wrong number.

Yeah, we got a cel phone number once that had just been owned by someone in deep debt trouble. And then once we knew her name from the number of collectors calling, they really really didn't believe it was a wrong number.

Often they have something that was the right number once upon a time, but isn't anymore. They have no excuse for persisting if the person they get is listed in the age of the internet, though.

A few years ago, there was some guy who used my work number as his contact number for whatever bills he was intending on ducking out on, so I kept getting collection agency calls for over a year. I told them time and again that I'd had this phone number for 15 years and the guy who they were looking for had never worked here, and they were usually really nice about taking my number off of their list.
