The worst wrong number callers are collection agencies. They never believe they got the wrong number.
Often they have something that was the right number once upon a time, but isn't anymore. They have no excuse for persisting if the person they get is listed in the age of the internet, though.

A few years ago, there was some guy who used my work number as his contact number for whatever bills he was intending on ducking out on, so I kept getting collection agency calls for over a year. I told them time and again that I'd had this phone number for 15 years and the guy who they were looking for had never worked here, and they were usually really nice about taking my number off of their list.

Thank you Vortex for posting about Tumblr and delicious. I am right there with you. And I feel extra lame because delicious seems like it would be very useful from a work perspective, but I can't figure out how to incorporate it into my teaching.
I don't have Veterans' Day off but my kids do. I need to come up with an activity to do with them. Maybe the Observatory? The Zoo? A museum? don't know yet.
Yay for new kitties, FredPete. They sound uber cute.
I know this is a longshot, but if anyone knows of a family that is seriously thinking about adoption and is open to the idea of an older sibling group, there are 3 siblings with my agency that are getting close to being separated. There are some special needs, but the kids are all healthy. It would be probably best for a family with no other children or with children who are older and already out of the home. I can get more info, people can email me.
I only just now learned what a cometarium is, and now I want one.
Harvard University’s Putnam Gallery has a collection of historical scientific instruments. Pictured above is Benjamin Martin’s cometarium, which dates back to about 1766. Here’s what it did:
This apparatus was designed to demonstrate how the speed of a comet varies in its orbit according to Kepler’s law of equal areas. The comet Benjamin Martin chose for this instrument is Halley’s Comet, which goes around the Sun every 75 1/2 years. Martin began producing cometaria before Halley’s Comet made its predicted return, and so was betting that Halley would prove correct in his theory.
I went to the doctor today. Just got back. Broke my 14 (!) hour fast with a gardenburger, fries and an Arnold Palmer.
Delicious.
And I still have cannoli for dessert.
Anyway, I went in expecting them to take my vitals and my blood and wound up also getting a flu shot, a pneumonia shot, a urine sample and and ekg.
So much more complicated than I had expected but - I'm not going to need to see him again until May.
So, anybody else have tomorrow (Veteran's day) off?
I have Remembrance Day off, taking Friday as a vacation day, and Monday is my earned day off, so Five days off in a row!!! I am spending that time refinishing the hardwood in my hall and dining room. A co-worker just helped my pick up the sanders at Home Depot, and I have to say, I'm fairly terrified. I haven't quite worked out how I am going to get the sanders back for Friday @9:00 AM. I hate not having a car at times like this.
ETA: Remembrance Day is the one holiday where most everything is shut.
