How soon is your procedure, Kathy? I know it's a lot of fuss & unpleasantness, but I suspect it's all going to be worth it in the long term.

Monday after Thanksgiving--eep!

Mom's flying out on Thanksgiving day and staying until the 6th. If I need anymore help, Dad's available to come up as needed. I just have to go out and pick up a chair/bed convertible from IKEA (Mom's paying for it, yay!) so she'll having something to sleep on instead of just the couch, and then get some twin sheets and other assorted stuff from BB&B. I've been needing to replace the very ratty-looking uncomfortable chair I have next to my computer desk which is really only being used by the cat, anyway, and having it be a fold-out bed as well will be perfect.

Be sure to prep your Mom to put up a post -- or email one of us -- when you've come through the procedure. Of course, you'll be able to get online fairly quickly I suppose, but it will be a relief to hear the major worry-step has been passed.

I'll have my laptop with me at the hospital, which has free wifi. I'll be sure to have her update y'all, if I don't do it myself (they said they'd have me walking around that afternoon, so I'm sure I'll be alert enough to post here).

You may be able to walk around, but you will likely be high as a kite on pain killers. Nevermind. That should make the posting even more interesting. Proceed.

Now tagless for your comfort.

We specifically did not want the school district tests to be the first tests given to him. The psychologist we hired to do the eval came recommended from the therapist and she believes what he does is much more thorough.

Good call.

DJ, I share your WTF-ery, even if I am feeling too impotently rageful and despairing to know what to say about it. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh.

Hee!! What makes this even more interesting is that this will only be the fourth time I've been put under, and my first surgical procedure since I had one of those earwax tubes inserted when I was eight, so I have no idea how I'm going to react to either the general anasthesia or bigtime painkillers. The last time I had those was for one day when I had my wisdom teeth yanked in high school, and all I did then was sleep all day long.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

I am so sorry for your and your family's loss Anne.
