"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

He's in Show Low. He's calling it. So I called over to the Sleep Inn to book him. They have a few rooms left and are holding one for him.

He's what would normally be about two minutes away, but he's thinking it'll probably be a half hour over there.

I will be much happier when I know he is there. I made him eat at the McDonalds' since he was already in the parking lot and I don't want him making more stops than necessary.

The whole thing is a shame because he ended up with no students making it to lessons and rehearsal canceled for tonight. So he might as well have stayed home with me.

It's just irritating because it's so hard to call what the weather will do out here. Yesterday he canceled a trip to Window Rock that probably would have been fine to participate in a film someone's making about the musician whose family is funding us. I think he was stinging from that unnecessary cancellation so wanted to try going in today. But it turns out he shouldn't have. It's just hard to gauge.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Oh, that just sucks, Liese! I'm glad he'll be OK, though.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

I'm glad he's staying put, Liese, but it's too bad he had to go out at all.

Since lunch was a Big Fail, I ended up tossing all of the meat. I'm going to go to Panera on the way home, pick up some soup for tonight and possibly some chicken salad for tomorrow, and then do my laundry and dishes tonight.

I have to come in and work for a few hours tomorrow, but then I can head home, go for a swim along the way, and then get dressed and packed for a small get-together at my friend Tami's. I missed her Christmas party since it was just a week after I came home from the hospital, so I'm looking forward to hanging with her and a few others. I'm staying overnight--I'm hoping she hasn't seen The King's Speech yet so we can see it on Saturday.

So I thought I had tomorrow off, but it turns out I have Monday off, because that's when all our clients have off.

Oops.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Good you found out today and not tomorrow, I guess, huh tommy?

The SO is safely at the hotel. Now that he's safe for the night, I am allowed to be bummed. No tv, because it's satellite and the dish is full. Ooh. Which reminds me I need to see if I need to sweep out my dish. She was dubious about his wifi access in his room. But if he does have it, he'll ask for late check-out and try to watch the Legends game streaming.

The Winter Classic this year is in question because of weather, which makes me laugh since Arizona is completely snowed under and Pittsburgh might rain.

Anyway. He's safe. He's got a place to stay. It's good.

I just did over 20 minutes of actual work, because I couldn't stand just sitting here doing nothing any more.

Only another 2 hours and 17 minutes to go!

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

We took our houseguest out to Red Rocks Canyon with our doggies and tromped around. It was beautiful (although cold and wicked windy) and the pups LOVED being off-leash. Now I am back in the office (I had to come in for a call even though I am taking PTO today) but have now done my task and then no more work until NEXT YEAR!

Tomorrow, we are going to our fave tiki steakhouse for dinner, then to movie (My second viewing of The King's Speech--YES!). We'll have champagne and strawberries when we get home.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Glad your SO is staying put safely, Liese.
