That was one block from my apartment.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, nail polish, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.

OTOH, at least I'm not the owner of this car!
Two cars were damaged. One family owns both cars. They called the City to complain - the City person said, "Send us a bill," and hung up.
Jessica, did you get your groceries delivered yesterday?
I couldn't even imagine owning one car in my neighborhood, let alone two.

I'm so glad MTA fares are going up tomorrow, aren't you? I just can't WAIT to start paying more for this excellent service...
(Not that the MTA and the city sanitation workers share a budget, but the timing on this...ARGH. SMASH.)
Jessica, did you get your groceries delivered yesterday?
Bwaha! Yes, they finally came this morning. And just in time, because we were really out of food!! I baked bread this morning rather than going to the store, so with the eggs I had delivered and the milk I bought yesterday we're all stocked up on emergency supplies.
I also made granola bars today. Nothing like being snowed in for three days to really get those domestic juices flowing.
When I was in the city last night, we were trying to drive down 87th near Amsterdam, and some people driving a little tiny car were trying to parallel park in a space that was blocked by a snowbank from the plow. After trying several times to back into this space (please note, by the way, that there was a parking garage on the next corner with a huge, easily visible sign), they then decided to try to front in. This space was small enough that fronting in wouldn't work even with clear streets. But anyway, the car got stuck in the snow bank and couldn't get out. Front wheels just spinning. And it was stuck at an angle so that no other cars could get by. They tried pushing it, and then we got out of our car to help (I suggested we use some of the newspapers we had in our backseat for traction under the tires, but it didn't work), and then some people from the cars that were behind ours got out to help push, but that car wasn't going anywhere. Finally, all five cars that had lined up behind this one had to go in reverse down the whole block and take a different route.
The spinning kills me. Especially in Queens, I would hear cars spinning and spinning for way too long -- they couldn't realize it was time to try something else? Yikes.
Reason #whatever I'm just as glad not to drive.
Shoveling is reason #n I'm just as glad to live in an apartment.
I'm so bored, you guys! I can't work on much until people get back next week! Argh....
I'm so bored, you guys!
