We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

At work today. Didn't take the time to eat breakfast or pack up a lunch before leaving, so I got a McDonald's yogurt parfait for breakfast and a bowl of Southwest Tortilla soup from the cafeteria for lunch. The soup was perfect for me now, since I'm on the next phase of my eating routine: soft foods as opposed to last week's very soft foods. Now that I'm eating this level, I can start moving onto regular food as my stomach tolerates it.

The soup had small cubes of chicken that I chewed up very well, and sliced up celery, peppers, as well as kidney beans and very yummy broth. After eating this with no problems, I'm reassured that the chili that I will make tonight (after blowing it off all weekend) will be fine for me.

I did have issues with the tuna fish salad I made on Friday night (none of it stayed down), but I'm thinking it might have been a taste issue--just the idea of eating tuna is off-putting right now.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Fred Pete, kudos to you and Hubs for the volunteer work you do with the shelter. I volunteered at a shelter for a few weeks one summer, and it was hard to see so many wonderful animals abandoned and needing homes.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Kathy, I'm so glad your recovery is going so well!

Fred Pete, Zen speaks for me. That sounds like an interesting period of time for you and Hubs. I hope you both get some actual time to relax and recharge. You probably need it after all that.

Returned travelers, I'm happy you're safely home. Wanderers in the snow, stay warm and dry! I have a sudden urge to build a fire and gather everybody in the circle of warmth. This is a anowfall--widespread, but there are pros working at coping--not a post-apocalytic movie. Still, everybody stay safe, and watch out for the wargs!

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Ma-for your MIL, Burrell. I hope they get it figured out and cured quickly.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

My neighborhood, at the moment, is a snowy wonderland for kids and a massive clusterfuck for everyone else. None of the three subways nearby are running and none of the side streets have been plowed. The two main commercial streets nearby have been plowed, but only once, and not very well - at the north end of our block a normally two-lane street has been reduced to a one-lane parking lot. (I saw a row of five cars which had all managed to dig themselves out and pull into the middle of the street, but then couldn't get any further and so just sat there blocking the road.)

Theoretically my grocery delivery has been rescheduled for tomorrow, but I'm not optimistic that they'll be able to get the truck down the block!

For the first time this week I'm hoping I don't go into labor any time soon, because I think I'd have to walk to the hospital. (It's a shame my neighbor the doula is out of town...would be nice to have someone who's assisted a birth before, just in case!)

Not sure where this was taken, but here's a cool timelapse of the snow coming in last night:
