Congratulations to the class of 1999. You all proved more or less adequate.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Yeah, waiting through your loved one's surgery is not fun. Having WIFI was a godsend...also sushi.

My secret shame: when The Boy had his hernia surgery, the hospital was 5 minutes (maybe less) from my comic book store. So, based on the time frame the hospital had given me, I figured I had time to go over to the store and get my comics and be back in the waiting room before the surgery was over. Therefore, I went and got my comics.

You can see where this is going.

Sure enough, when I got back (still within that acceptable time frame), it turns out the surgery had finished early and they were trying to let me know so I could go back and see The Boy.

Now, he was doped up so he didn't know I wasn't there on time, and when I told him later he thought it was funny (and also not surprising), but I still felt bad that I wasn't actually there when he got out of surgery. (I was only 10-15 minutes "late," but still.)

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

take a call from the surgeon and I freaked the flip out. He just wanted to let me know things were progressing fine, but dang. I hadn't expected that at all.

I think I'd be like, "Shouldn't you be working more and talking on the phone less?"

We just got paged to the waiting room. And now we're waiting for the doctor.

Being the coincierge in the waiting room must be the worst job in the world.

My mom said that while I was having my surgery, the staff made sure to update both her and Dad on a regular basis throughout the four hour procedure. Thing is, my surgery was so late in the day that the volunteer at the desk left before I was out of surgery, so he told them how to answer the phone when it rang, since it would most likely be the doctor telling them I was finished.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Being the coincierge in the waiting room must be the worst job in the world.

Do you have old volunteers? I'm pretty sure my waiting room was staffed entirely with retiree volunteers.

Okay, I've had it with the stench. I'm going home. I'll try this again tomorrow.

Hat hat hat!

That hat is adorable, msbelle.

And I just discovered my performance review isn't one: it's a review of the work plan for the coming year, much less stressful.

And I get off work an hour early tomorrow, yay.

Love that hat!

Do not love my workday. Same issues as yesterday continue. And my developer is out until next tuesday. not that he could figure out what the issue was either. ARGH!

Well, I'm finally registered from my spring semester class. With the weird schedule of it (meets one weekend a month in January, February, and March), I'll have to be sure to keep up on my reading.

When my boss gets back from lunch, I'm going to see if I can go home at 2:30. I'm too tired, PMSing all over the place, and just want to sleep.

I'm WFH and no one is responding to e-mails. Not like it would be a difference in the office since the folks I need are in Oakland, CA, Salt Lake City, UT, and Santa Ana, CA. People!

Also - anyone know where I hid my pink beads from myself. I just went through my stash and I can't find them. It is driving me nuts.
