Giles, if you would like to get by in American society, then you are going to have to follow our traditions. You're the patriarch. You have to host the festivities, or it's all meaningless.

I love sledding too. And I actually love skiing, but I don't know anyone anymore who can actually get away and go ski with me (and I tried once alone and was miserable), so I gave away all of my gear.

Hope that mac stops being poopy soon, msbelle.

I am at my folks'. My sister (sort of) and I put up the tree. It's kind of lopsided. But, because I said I wanted the tree bought when I got home, my other sister and my brother went to four different lots before they found this, so I am not saying anything.

I left my house this morning without vacuuming, so I hope my catsitters don't mind a messy, hair rug.

Canadian wedding cakes are traditionally fruit cake with this cement like frosting that I have honest to god seen someone pull an electric carving knife from the gift table to cut through.

I have experienced these!! That icing is terrible. But I am happy to say, I haven't seen one at a wedding in many years.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

For some reason, I assumed my sister would leave me at least a couple of presents when she left, so that I would have something to put under my tree until Christmas, but she didn't, and now the poor little pink thing looks bereft and lonely.

I haven't been skiing in ages, but I would love to take some lessons and get back into it. And my winter sport at school was cross-country skiing so I wouldn't mind that either.

I miss cross country skiing. In NC you have to go to the mountains for any skiing, so it's pretty much all down hill. Eh, if I miss it enough I'll get my butt up to MI and rent some skis.
