I did a public proposal, but it was after we got the ring together and generally decided that I'd propose to him on Sadie Hawkins Day. Which I did! While officiating a pub quiz. (we knew practically everyone there.) It was fun.

Yeah, you know, I think that's the real thing. I don't believe in surprise engagements FOR ME. Of course there are a ton of people who want and love that kind of thing, and so they should have it! Because why do I care how other people arrange their lives, really?
