Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

One of our cats does that. He likes to collapse dramatically in front of us or the dogs, and then just stays there, quite pleased with himself. As you saw with the lion, it's a Thing.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

bon bon - one of my sister's cats does this all the time, to the point that we've nicknamed the phenomenon "Sissy go boom." My cat does it when being petted, giving the misleading impression that she wants you to pet her stomach(Not. Recommended.). Is this a recent development?

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

He's just been doing it a lot more often to Bob and me lately (eta: but he's been at it for months with less frequency). There are a lot of not-good things happening involving him so it's good if it shows he's happy, it's just...frequent.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Our cat Toke does that all the time. ALL THE TIME. She practically flings herself to one side (rather than just flopping and letting gravity do the work).

I file it under Pets Is Weird, part 9,326.

That's what I mean about being possessed, I can tell he's going to do it because his legs seem to be telling him, "can't...stand...any..." PLOP!

I think it's just a cat thing. He's possessed by the Universal Cat Flop Spirit.

I searched "cat flop" and got a number of hits, including this explanation - [link]

Ann, that's a ferret.

Agreed -- it's a cat thing.

Depends on the cat. Coco does something similar to the flop, and he goes into attack mode if you pet his stomach (but petting his chest is okay.) On the other hand, Seamus's reaction to "tummy rub" is closer to "I'll give you 24 hours to stop that."

Oh, definitely. With Xusa it's a bad idea.

That cat flop site is interesting. I had been googling "cat lying down" etc. Just wanted to make sure kk is ok. I hate coming in on him lying like that and having to make sure he's still breathing.
