Sticking my usually lurky head in the door to say:
Connie, stickler for spelling that I am, I pulled out my Pocket Oxford Irish Dictionary - which gives me no love for priestess, but under witch has cailleach, which my somewhat rusty Irish wants to pronounce like callie (or kelly, as sumi said).
eta: My lurky head hangs as it realizes it should have refreshed before hitting "post", rather than re-re-re-answering.
::sigh::
Well, it also gives me the opportunity to add my best ~ma wishes to those in need and happiest b-day wishes for Spidra and Nutty.
Huh.
A Christian minister in Fla. cancels plans to burn Qurans on Sept. 11, heeding to outcry
GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — The leader of a small Florida church that espouses anti-Islam philosophy says he is canceling plans to burn copies of the Quran on Sept. 11.
Pastor Terry Jones said Thursday that he decided to cancel his protest because the leader of a planned Islamic Center near ground zero has agreed to move its controversial location. The agreement couldn't be immediately confirmed.
Huh? Hadn't heard about the moving of the "ground zero mosque"....
under witch has cailleach
Oh, cool, I saw that on some online translations, but I didn't trust them.
And yeah, JZ, it's probably who you're thinking of.
Oh, my God, Liese, it isn't. I can't believe there were two gifted singer/songwriters who interwove religious themes and Southwestern imagery into their lyrics and died much too young within a few years of each other. And now I have another musician whose work I can explore (after I've dug into Spidra's Warner Brothers album).
Found mango candy on a co-worker's desk. Mouth is all cut up now, but tastes of mango. Mm, fruity goodness.
Oh, cool, I saw that on some online translations, but I didn't trust them.
Ah, well, then...glad to be of service.
Oh, my God, Liese, it isn't.
Oh yeah, he was great, too. He moved in the same circles, but I didn't know him because he died earlier, in 1992. He actually died on stage at the music festival that I still go to every year, but I wasn't there that year.
My guy died in a car wreck on his way to Wichita. He and his musical partner, who we still hang out with a little, were living on Navajo in New Mexico at the time, but were on tour. If you liked Heard, though, you probably will like Mullins.
Mm, fruity goodness.
I had the Honest Ade Orange Mango yesterday, and although it was pleasantly not sweet, it was inadequately mango, and a quick glance at the ingredients shows why. It has lots of good stuff in it, just not enough mango.
The potential buyer for my co-op wants an additional $5K credit because trees were cut down in our interior garden (which my apartment faces). The trees were removed because a limb fell and hit someone on the head, they were rotting from the inside out and the co-op was risking a lawsuit if anyone else got injured. stupidhead lady, I will not give you another $5K.
msbelle, that's gobsmackingly stupid of potential buyer. I hope it's not a deal breaker, though.
Best job I ever had was sorting apples at an apple orchard. Not horribly difficult physically but very easy on the mind. And the place smelled divine.
I admire hands on skills and productivity is great but that line in Primary Colors holds true--muscle jobs go where muscle is cheapest.
I am rolling my eyes at myself -- after resisting and resisting, I just bought a new pashmina and purse to go with the new dress I'm wearing to a wedding this weekend. If only I had given in earlier, I probably could have gotten them cheaper. Eh. It's not like they go bad. And I'm rich, apparently.
