Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I am rolling my eyes at myself -- after resisting and resisting, I just bought a new pashmina and purse to go with the new dress I'm wearing to a wedding this weekend. If only I had given in earlier, I probably could have gotten them cheaper. Eh. It's not like they go bad. And I'm rich, apparently.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I just bought a new pashmina and purse

I thought only vampire slayers got to wear pashminas.

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

Got into work late this morning, my ED was meeting with the arborist deep in the woods in her pretty purple slippers. I apologized for being late, she looked sympathetic and dismissed it as fine. Then she asked where a colleague was, and I said I saw her coming in at 9:15, like she does on Thursdays when she has the kids. ED was pissed.

The hell? I WAS TWO AND A HALF HOURS LATE* and she's pissy at my colleague? How do *I* get the sympathetic noises? As much as I'm grateful for the free pass, it makes me feel like shit wrt my coworker, and also makes me paranoid that she's just putting together a list of my fuckups to hit me with at an opportune future time.

* my work start is 6:30, 9am is really truly epically late for me.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Man, life just got complicated. As of this afternoon, Mexico City is back on, when I was comfortably sure it had gone away. So now I'm supposed to be there from 9/22-9/24, home for the weekend, and NY from the 27th to 30th. Which would be okay, except what about the dog? I had my sister lined up to come stay during NY but I really don't know if I can convince her to do it that long. And it's a long time to board her, with her issues.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I had the Honest Ade Orange Mango yesterday

I tried that last week and wasn't terribly impressed either. But at least it wasn't very sweet.

Julie, were you late because of, you know, the thing?

Juliebird - Sep 09, 2010 2:51:38 pm PDT #23113 of 30001
I am the fly who dreams of the spider

Partly the thing, ita, but also partly due to being exhausted yesterday, going to bed at 8, waking up at 2 (because I am incapable of getting more than 5 or 6 hours of sleep, no matter how tired I am) and filling my insomnia with the thing, falling back to sleep at 6, waking up at 7, and indulging in the thing for another hour before hopping in the shower.

Jealous and WANT, msbelle.

I am awash in 9 pints of Jeni's Splendid ice cream. Sadly one is NOT Bourbon Butter Pecan because I stupidly got two of Bangkok Peanut.

I hear you on the insomnia front, Julie. Kicked my ass night before last.

I suspect the thing will take up much of my time tonight.
