Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

OK, this is awesome.

On Sullivan's blog they've been discussing engagement rings. Here is a bit from a reader's email:

My best friend decided she didn't want a diamond ring – the one she liked was $60 at Fire&Ice. Her boyfriend was befuddled by this, partly because he had two grand he'd saved up to buy a ring, and suddenly nothing to spend it on.

So he bought and proposed to her with a MacBookPro. (She's an aspiring writer)

An engagement ring MacBook Pro!

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I'm wearing white socks today. It's traumatising me. ita doesn't do white socks. But apparently these are the only real socks I have without Nike or Adidas logos on them. Which look funny with Mary Janes.

I should go to sockdreams and fix that up. OMG, I'm traumatised again. Urggh.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

The body sock thing kinda freaks me out, but I am going to be talking to mac's therapist about all that stuff. He does this thing when playing his DS or reading where he gets up on his knees and puts his head on the floor and gets all contorted. no idea what it is all about, but I bet it is sensory related.

Kat, anything you don't need I'd be happy to take. I spent $140 yesterday on stuff. Let me know what shipping is.

I think I am going to get a sand table for outside also, but I think I can do that for pretty cheap via freecycle for wood and sand.

thanks, Calli! the good thing is that my friend is experienced in the ways of tattoos. so she's doing all of the legwork. i wouldn't know where to start!

those socks are truly odd, ita. why even bother having a sock if that's all it's going to cover?

And you know they're going to move around too. I can't imagine the point or the comfort.

Compassionately intolerant

And you know they're going to move around too. I can't imagine the point or the comfort.

This was my reaction.

While I can sort of appreciate the 'mule' sock, the reason I wear clogs and mule most of the time is to avoid socks altogether!

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

When I was a kid, we had one of those sectional couches that goes around a corner, creating a triangle of space behind the corner piece. When I was getting overwhelmed by stuff, but still wanted to know what was going on with the rest of the family (i.e., hiding out in my room would put me too far away), I would sit down there. It was just the right size for me to sit with my legs curled up a bit, and there was enough light to read if the dining room light was on, and I could listen to what was going on in the living room and dining room without having to actually participate for a while. (Before we had that couch, I'd done pretty much the same thing by turning a chair around to face the wall.)

Because books.

I can see those "foot rings" being good for dancers, maybe? But the toe things made me shudder.

Strong quake hits New Zealand

A strong earthquake of 7.4 magnitude hit New Zealand, 4 miles southeast of Christchurch, the biggest city on the nation's South Island, in the middle of the night local time, the U.S. Geological Survey said on Friday.

Some residents posted Twitter alerts talking about power outages, damage and large aftershocks.
