I am REALLY CAREFUL with my mandolin for just that reason, Perkins. I am so the person who would remove her identity with that thing.
I've been pondering the demographics of the Ys in this city. Been to 3 different ones, it's saying something. Haven't been to the Druid Hill one, which may or may not confirm my theses, but...it is really interesting. It suggests things about the metro area, and sometimes not really flattering, sometimes better than hope. I gotta say, I prefer my Y. It is a microcosm of the city proper, quite diverse. Sorta like my neighborhood, which makes me happy. It is a true community center.
So, I was feeling a little annoyed I didn't clean all of the downstairs today, so I decided to review my day, to berate myself for being lazy. You know what? It was AWESOME. I showered (I don't always manage this premarket days) and went to the market with 3 of my neighbors, helped one pick out interesting things to put in a curry for her friend who is a local green contracting company owner (I so need to work my way into that circle,) then chatted with Sarah on the roof with them (she's the porch repaint turned rebuild hell neighbor,) then hung out on a porch with them and neighbor S's boyfriend for almost 3 hours, drinking tea (me) and coffee and recounting our summers and adventures (they've been gone a lot.) Then headed to the pool and swam 3500 yds, and hit up the Sally's nearby and explored a hardware store I didn't know existed (still didn't have my mythical scraper.) Then I hit up Walmart (kneehighs, only place I've found them) and Target, followed by a TJ run. Came home and applied paint stripper and did some light stripping, cleaned upstairs and my kitchen, took care of geriatric dog (tonight's fun=poop and I-dunwanna-go-inside-but-I-can't-walk-either.)
So I had some leisure, but really, it's been a busy day, damnit! And I like it. I think there was something in the water in January '09. Life has not been the same since.
