Right, there comes a point where you have to either move on, or just buy yourself a Klingon costume and go with it.

And none of us deserving the cruelty or the grace -- Leonard Cohen

I linked to that on Facebook once. So creepy, so true!

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

I'm clearly out of the loop because I never heard of Foursquare before today, but I assume it's the reason why some of my FB friends seem to update every time they eat a meal out at a restaurant? yeah. Can't imagine doing that.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I know about the Molasses Flood, but not the Waltz Riot. Google is giving me no love.

From Herbert Asbury (Gangs of New York) book about New Orleans. JZ read it and knows the details better but basically there was a large ball held in New Orleans where there were large contingents of French, Spanish and Americans. The French and Spanish groups wound up having a very heated disagreement about which waltzes were appropriate which broke out into a full scale riot that lasted for several hours, destroying the ballroom with many casualties of uppercrust swordfighting etc. The Americans immediately took this opportunity to swoop up all the womenfolk.

brillig

Huge-ass rain storm pounding down on the Salt Lake metro area. Tis glorious. Deserts have certainly changed my relationship to life-threatening storms (off to check the flashflood warning area again).

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Yeah, I'm so sick of Facebook implementing stuff with us all opted in, and not announcing anything. They keep changing the way you have to manage your privacy, so freaks like me have to keep changing what we do. I'm just glad they brought back the thing where you can opt out of the entire application platform. I was really irritated when they took that out, again without asking me. Hello, facebook, I have everything locked down for a reason! And then how they hide all the most severe privacy stuff. Like it looks like "friends only" is the lowest you can lock it down, but if you go to "custom" then you can chose "only me." Annoying.

That link is completely amazing. I love the audience interaction bits!

This is part of why I am still boggled that people seem to be using FB more than LJ. JL custom filters are sooooo useful.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I'm going to kill everyone. Seriously. There doesn't seem to be anyone who isn't pissing me off.

It helps me a little to know that I'm not the only person at the office having a bad day, but seriously. I'm perfectly willing to blame me, but that doesn't make everything less exasperating.

If only I had a pencil...

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

You can filter on facebook, too, but they don't make it easy, and the fact that they keep changing stuff doesn't help.
