"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

in the Deanery of Frodsham

This sounds like something out of Python. Or possibly SPN fandom.

I wish I could just go somewhere to get flensed but none of the whaling ships near me take Medicare.

Britain is full of names like that. I love it so!

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I think I don't understand what goes on in the world. A coworker just complimented an email I just sent. I'm a good writer, but that was not an Example of My Craft, it was just an email! It makes me wonder what other people are sending out, you know?

brillig

Sampling prize-winning jams sounds very good to me right now, still having not broken my fast.

It won't be as fun as the county fair back home, where the fair rivalries go back generations, and you sometimes get caught in the "So, which did you like better, mine or Nancy's?" battleground, with Nancy standing right behind you.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Nice to see LOLCats earning MBAs....

There's an event in Beverly Hills that I'd like to attend tonight. It's even a very low admission fee! However, it's an hour and a half there and back on pubtrans. I haven't yet had the stomach to add 3 hours of transpo onto the duration of an event I attend cross-town. Esp when the coming back will be on a bus at night going through East LA. But I don't want to be a shut-in down here, either, dammit.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Can I skip ahead? I don't want to redo this week, but it's been just about a complete bust, and it's not looking to improve. People are just being....and it's a stressful enough week anyway. And no sleep and no food and pissy head and...grr.

And I'm disproportionately distressed that I don't have a pencil today. I might not like anything I'm drawing, but I'm feeling hella compelled to do it, and apparently blue rollerball ain't enough today.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

That's kind of how I feel about the whole month.

August can pretty much bite me.
