Junebugs used to swarm the bathrooms at the U telescopes. As in completely filling the toilets with drowned bugs. I'd pee in the field before using them.
Cats are fucking cute when they sleep and stretch.

Eek!
Well, I looked things up further and it seems this was not what is called June Bug in the South but is instead the green fruit beetle, fig beetle - Cotinis mutabilis
Still, they are HUGE and they make this low thrum when they fly and they were all zooming in on me because I was standing right next to a fig tree.
I just talked to my friend Miriam, who's a nurse. She thinks I likely have food poisoning. That kinda' makes sense, as I was fine until after I ate a frozen pizza yesterday.
It's cute when Floridians insist that Palmetto bugs aren't roaches.
OF COURSE THEY ARE ROACHES
OF COURSE THEY ARE ROACHES
They're roaches WITH WINGS. Two years in Florida, and that was the only thing I hated. ::shudders::
YOU CAN LIE TO YOURSELVES, FLORIDIANS, BUT YOU CANNOT FOOL ME.
At first I was kinda insulted that my dad didn't want to stay with us, but now I'm kinda glad he is at a hotel. The visit has gone well so far, but it is nice to be able to completely slug out when he heads to his hotel.
When we got back to my apartment this evening, he complimented the place. I think he thought we were in a cramped low budget place. Compared to the area, it is low cost, but it is a fairly roomy place.
A little beetle trivia: we don't have June bugs in Australia, but we do have other scarab beetles that are particularly active in our summer. Given the timing, we call them Christmas beetles.
Used to see them all the time growing up in Canberra. Here in Melbourne, NSM.
I love that my dad stays in the hotel across the street when he visits. He's a very early person and I'm a very late one.
Ugh, tommyrot, how miserable. Try to get some water in you, if you can.
Get better, Buffistas.
