In 2008 (I think) Target's overall donations to democratic causes was about 6% higher than their donations to republican ones. Which isn't at all this year, but it seems that historically, they do seem to try to make things even between the parties.

I read that the NRA opposed her but didn't want to make a big deal of it because they knew she'd be confirmed anyway and the NRA didn't want to make themselves appear weak.

I don't know what I think about her as a *judge* but I'd have a drink with her. Also, Marshall thought she was awesome(and I heart him) and I think I read that Stevens considered her a decent choice.
